Seeing as the Rockets dont have the #1 pick, her is what I would do if I was NJ (trying not to be sensitive to the Rockets needs in any way). It seems as if the Nets already have a good PF/SF in Van Horn, and if Williams can return healthy, he really makes for a strong power forward. Thus, I would kinda be leaning towards Mihm. Of course, IMHO, Mihm will never be deserving of a number 1 pick (kinda a Joe Smith thing). If the Nets were smart, they would recognize this. So if I was them, I would really try and make it sound like I was high on Mihm, and then tyr and wrangle both the 4 and the 7 out of Chicago for the one. I know anything past the 3rd pick is kinda a tossup, but the Nets would be able to pick up Fizer still and add another good player. Heck, they may still even be able to get a tall white center in Pryzbilla. I may be wrong, but really Mihm will never be a superstar and Pryzbilla shoudl be able to do almost as much. Maybe the Nets could even get a player out of it.

Now, looking at it from the Rockets point of view, this is what I would hope for. If you ask me, just because of athletisicm alone, Cato should turn out to be a better center than Mihm will ever be. So how about a straightup trade with Rockets Cato for #1. Ok, I know this is a little far fetched, so maybe add in the number 9 also. I know this leaves us with a whole at center, but heck, we would save some cap money for next year and be able to get Swift (more potential than KMart in my opinion).

Anyway, what would you guys do if yo were the GM of the Nets...or the Grizz...or the Clips, etc??

i am thinking along the same lines as you. although, i hadn't thought about the Chicago senerio. with the injuries to j williams still up in the air, C Mihm would be a safe back up if needed down the stretch.
    Mihm,Van Horn,Kittles,Gill,Marbury

looking at that line up...i wouldn't do it, but new jersey might...its possible. if new jersey picks Martin, Van Horn is sure to want to get traded by the febuary deadline. they would be as clogged at the four as the rox's are at the 1 and 2 positions.

but i'm still not sure they would take Mihm at #1. this is just wishful thinking at justifying getting Swift at #3 i'm afraid. [IMG]

I still do not buy this thing that the Nets are really going to take Chris Mihm. The player that really fits what they need is Kenyon Martin. I was looking at the Nets team defensive and rebounding stats last season and was very appalled. Their Field Goal Percentage Against was .464 and their opponents outrebounded them by an average of 5.3 RPG. First and foremost, they need a player that can help them in these areas as those are the staples of a good team. As much as I am a supporter of Mihm, it is just not the intelligent pick for the Nets. Martin is just a beast on the defensive end not only with his shotblocking but also his excellent ability to rove all over the court covering multiple players. Mihm is no slouch in these areas, but Martin is better. Also, Martin will help them majorly in the rebounding departement. If Jayson Williams returns, he can play the center position as he did when the Nets made their playoff run.

I think they will posture and smokescreen on Mihm in order to try and get Krause to deal the #4 and #7 picks to move up. However, Krause is not an idiot, I dont think he will bite on this one. If they try to strong arm he can just tell them all to get lost and select Darius Miles at #4 and Joel Pryzbilla at #7 if they follow through with their threat of taking Mihm at #1. Ofcourse thats not as good a draft as Chris Mihm and Courtney Alexander, but its a lot better than just Chris Mihm.

The Orlando offer is the legit one I think the Nets will get. I am sure they will consider it but will only pull the trigger if they want Darius Miles or Mike Miller. If the top 4 were Orlando, Vancouver, LAC, Chicago, then the top 4 players would still likely be Martin, Swift, Fizer, Mihm leaving Miles or Miller at #5. Then they could take a big guy at 10.

If I were NJ, I would make my under the table bribe to Stern in one lump sum, rather than dragging it out with monthly payments.

    Interest is a beach.

The Nets already have at least one offer on the table...from Orlando.

    Nets get #5 and #10.

    Orlando gets #1.

If I am NJ, I would seriously look at this as a possibility.
