"What have you done today to become a champion?" (Drayton McClane's mantra for the entire Astros organization) Come tomorrow, Wed., July 31 @ 3pm-CDT(the trade deadline), we will know the answer by the Astros and Drayton to his own mantra.....
If no trade is done that means that the right deal wasn't presented. I don't think we should make a deal just to say we did. If a good deal comes down and we don't pull the trigger then we have something to complain about.
I agree w/ Refman. A trade just for the sake of making a move is just silly. If the right trade isn't there, no point in making a move.
It doesnt matter anyways because there aint gonna be a World Series..... When is football season again?
Donald Fehr met with the Astros today and according to Gregg Zaun there was no talk about a strike date. Reportedly, Fehr believes a deal will be made. When did this become a thread about a strike?
No, I agree that we shouldn't make a deal just to make a deal. I'm just very disappointed with the 'Stros once again. Oh what the hell? I've followed them for 21 years, maybe one day they'll break through.....
I know what you mean, and I feel your pain. I just hear so many people on this BBS complain because the 'Stros haven't made a deal...ANY deal...whether it makes any sense or not. We may not always agree, but I have come to respect your opinions. I should have kept who posted this in mind.
Thanks guy. Just had to get it off my chest. Feel better now; that Saarloos kid is looking pretty good the second time around.....
that Saarloos kid is looking pretty good the second time around..... I agree - and I think this may be why we don't make a trade. It seems the Astros were mostly interested in starting pitching (Byrd, Rogers, Livan, etc) because we had a rotation that included Cruz, an unknown Munro, and a really bad Saarloos. With Mlicki coming back strong, and Munro & Saarloos pitching ridiculously well, there's no real need for an extra starter. That said, I would still love a trade for Randy Wynn or another outfielder, but I'm not sure the Astros are pursuing that as much as they were the SP.
Well it's 13 and a half hours to the deadline and no deal. I doubt that Hunsicker will be up late tonight. If nothing has been done by the time the news comes on tonight then I doubt it will happen.
unfortunately every baseball related thread is ULTIMATELY about a strike....I heard Zaun's comments this morning on the radio...I'm not as optimistic as you are, unfortunately.
Yeah...I found that out this morning. It's usually midnight, which makes for a great edition of Baseball Tonight. I remember watching the late Baseball Tonight in 1998 when they broke the Randy Johnson trade. 2 hours left...looks like nothing is getting done.
I'm not optimistic either. Well, one minute to go on the trade deadline. Haven't heard anything.......oh well......go 'Stros!
