    Work ethic and his attitude.

He had a habit of coming to camp out of shape. McGrady believed in the cruise mode and thought he would turn it on in the later half of the season and playoffs. He would work himself back in shape slowly by mid season. Problem is, when you don't take care of your body through out the year, you are more prone to injuries.

Barkely had similar issues and Jordan used to criticize him for that. Which is why he usually broke down by the time playoffs started.

Jordan, Pippen, Hakeem, and yes even Malone worked during the off-season and kept themselves in shape. Barkley and McGrady did'nt and so their body betrayed them.

Injuries in general. Not just the knee injury. Yall already forgot about his back? Even when he first came to Houston, he wasn't never that explosive 2-time scoring champ at the height of his career.

dont kno wat stacey mclazy nut huggers keep makin new threads bout him but w/e keep huggin em huggers

tracy has always had a poor work ethic but his talent overrode it, but now his knee injury/surgery is his main reason cuz his poor work ethic coupled with shot knees is a recipe for decline and disaster

mayb he comes bak a lil stronger next year but his days as a superstar is over and he believes its not..

hes goin to be the next A.I. thinkin hes still capable of his orlando days  sad

This. when you're young it's possible to turn it on/off. when you get older is when the summer work-outs or lack thereof start to pay-off or show badly.

His mouth. His attitude. His knee. His ego.

He should just impose his will from now on.

Knee injury, and then when he knew that he was not coming back, he started with a bad attitude, and talking a lot, selling that he was fine, but never recovered from the injuries.

Work Ethic! Every other choice stems from his lack of desire to work hard at anything.. He tried to get by on talent alone and when met with this Knee injury he thought everything would just pan out..

On second thought I'm going to go with "other" and say his EGO ultimately was his downfall.

I agree. He really never had to work hard in the off season. He was tall, athletic and had great basketball skills. Once he got hurt he didn’t know how to react to his injuries/surgery. It all started to add up and it showed on the court. This past off season he finally worked his ass off and it showed. He’s out on the floor now cause he needs a contract, he still needs to fully recover. Next season we’ll see if his mind will let him trust his body.
