I supported the Mario Williams pick and Eric Winston, but thats about it. We should have used the 2nd pick or the 3rd pick for a CB or S. At worst the 5th pick should have adressed the secondary. Now aside from Dunta Robinson, we have no one. How is the pass defense going to workout? Is it going to be as f*cked up as last year?
A lot of the reason why the pass defense was horrible was that they weren't able to get any pressure whatsoever on the QB. No matter how good your coverage is, give any team time to drop back and survey every WR (which teams were able to routinely do against us), and they'll be able to complete quite a few passes. They'll still monitor the progress of Earl, and try to possibly work the new 2nd round LB into some coverage schemes (he looks more like a safety than LB), but the key here is that they hope to have more pressure on the QB in passing situations.
