I don't get why we did not foul as soon as the ball was inbounded.

my guess is that they were trying to trap in order to create a steal, but it backfired.

From what I can tell, it was either:

    1) We surrendered

    or

    2) Van Gundy had a brain fart and told them not to foul

yeah i know the whole trap and wait for a turnover worked in the 13 in 35 game, but it's not going to work very often. if nothing has happened after 2 seconds, you have to (have to!) foul there. of course kirilenko got 2 friendly rolls (should our baskets give us some rolls and not all of them to the jazz?) and that was that anyway.

It looked like TMac didn't want to burn a foul.

If a trap was called, stupid move.

We had 2 timeouts remaining. It didn't have to be that desperate.

That was disgusting. How could a team who is supposed to be so defensive oriented let that happen? I'm sick. Worthless. Up until now I was 100% with him, but FIRE JVG!

    What happened?

The Rockets realized that the season was over... this is what happens when a team is stunned they can't think stright they think there in a dream.. and eventually they will wake out of the nightmare and finally begin a real game when they don't realize they just lost a real game!

No that was purely the coaches decision. Look on the sidelines you don't see JVG screaming to foul anyone. He thought there was only one chance to win this game and that was to go for the steal... so he told his players trap and then go for the steal. It actually wasn't a bad idea. Trading free throws for shot attempts is almost always a losing proposition. It would have been a great moment if it worked. But like most other things JVG it made sense but lacked heart.

JVG made a dumb call, and it cost the Rockets a legitimate chance to come back and JVG his job.

i think they didnt want to put deron on the foul line and were wasiting for him to pass the ball and then jump on whoever had it...but it backfired and we couldnt catch up to the ball being thrown around.i dont think jvg got outcoached.i think our players just didnt want to put deron on the foul line.

The only think I can think of is that they were trying to force either a turnover or an 8-second violation... bleh
