What happened to our first round pick from the Lakers this year?

    If I recalled correctly, the March 15, 2012 deadline trade gave us Derek Fisher and a LA first round pick in exchange for Jordan Hill (essentially). What happened to that first round pick from LA?

    We will either include it in a trade for Dwight or wait till 2018 when it will be (hopefully) a top 3 selection.

    The mavs were 17th overall (30 being the best record) and the pick was top-20 protected. That meant that they had to have be at least 21st overall for us to get their pick. Otherwise, they retain it. If they keep retaining their pick until 2018, it will be unprotected meaning we will get the pick (if we keep it) no matter what the mavs' record is in that season.
