Is he injured? I can't believe how the guy scored back to back 50 point games a couple of years back. (Or is that Jamison I am thinking of?)
He had microfracture surgery. Missed all of last year and I think he is coming back this year. Such wasted talent he is...
I thought someone had found a picture of how big he's gotten. If he ever makes it back, it will shock people how different he looks. I'm not joking when I say Miles was looking like Tractor Traylor for a while. Supposedly he's on track to be cleared for practice soon, I think.
Injuries aside the guys an alcoholic, has a poor attitude and an even worse work ethic. You do the math.
Jamison definitely had back to back 50 point games. Was he that good or was it more luck? Darius Miles too though I think has scored 50 points.
What talent do you speak of? Miles never had any skills. All he could do was run, jump and dunk. Yaozer, thanks for finding that picture. Amazing isn't it? From toothpick to fat tub of lard.
He did score 47 points against Denver a year or two ago. I don't care how athletic you are, that takes talent.
not against denver I have to agree the guy was just athletic. He never developed any skills and it looked like he lost his leaping ability before surgery
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/DEN20050419.html He had 47 points (19-33 shooting), 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 5 blocks in Denver on April 15, 2005.
WOW. That dude was skinny, like Tmac skinny, before. Just like most other guys who were skinny athletic freaks, he only cared to get the paycheck and never bothered actually developing any decent basketball skills. You can't drive and dunk on every possession like you did in high school. Upside this, upside that. Most guys w/ upside are just that, mediocre players who MIGHT be better in the future but probably won't. It was really frustrating watching him when he was w/ the Cavs.
It's fine Miles had this game, but the guy didn't have skills when he can into the NBA and never improved himself. He could run, jump and slam when he decided to. Wow. Injury or not, Portland was crazy to give him a long term contract.
Washed up at age 26? Portland might as well just buy him out since nobody in their right mind would trade for his $9 million a year for three more years. They've got a good thing going in Portland, the last thing they need is a bonehead like Miles trainwrecking that team.
