    Clutch

I used to think you were pretty cool...but you are that extreme in some of your condemnations of people's opinions that differ to yours, that you have lost any credibility, in my eyes anyway.

I read Danilo's post that you refereneced and thought it was well argued, whilst containing a slight flaw (which he corrected...) Even that was only minor, as the issue remained the same. Threatening to ban the guy for supposedly 'patronising' you is beyond belief.

You used to have a sense of humour, and it's a pity to see that diminish and some intolerant jerk emerege. Chill out mate.

I really doubt I am the only one to lose a lot of respect for you and I couldn't give a stuff if I get banned for telling you that...

Ego and opinion wreck the best of men...sad to see it happen to you.

BTW: Feel free to pull out any of my previous posts and quote them out of context...thus making sure I am decredited... whilst your own point is made...

You've become exceptionally good at that.

In Clutch's defense he was set to play a game of good cop bad cop and Will never showed up. [IMG]

My theory is still that BK has Clutch roped off somewhere.

Though not a "Republican," I definitely lean towards the right. The OVERWHELMING majority of the posters on this board lean to the left. That's fine.

The discussions of late have become increasingly venomous, and both sides have been equally malicious, insulting, contemptuousness and downright disrespectful. Still, the right is vastly outnumbered. Again, that's fine...but....

If ten people are throwing rocks at you with ABSOLUTELY no intention of stopping and all you have to defend yourself is a pile of rocks to throw back, you can either run like hell or die. If you have a stronger"weapon though, you can either run like hell or prevail. Clutch may be outnumbered, but damn it!..his blood, sweat, and tears went into building this community, and with that comes some privileges. I'm glad Clutch "pulled out the big guns." This crap needed to stop, and so many kind and encouraging words from Jeff wasn't going to get the job done. Some of you seem to think Danillo was a martyr. So be it. Myself, I don't give a rat's ass. If he's a martyr, he made himself one. He had ample warning.

    Pole --

The question at hand here, though, seems to be what's happened to Clutch -- in general -- not within specific regard to Danilo.

Personally, I don't see any different the Clutch of old and the Clutch of new, he's always rubbed off as a belligerent with a bit of an ego -- but this is his playground, if you don't like the rules, get the funk out.

What's all this left leaning and right leaning stuff. And all this pissing.

I'm not sure if I'm missing the whole point of this Hangout forum, but Pole: What difference does it make which way you lean, unless you're pissing on a pole. What matters is which way you hang. I mean, this is the Hangout forum, right.

Personally, I hang slightly to the left.

Actually Stone Cold, I think this is more of a question about timing than anything... though thanks for the "belligerent with a bit of an ego" title.

Could this just be a wee bit more about George W. Bush officially becoming the President-Elect, which happened 5 hours before ScreamingRocketJet's post, than Clutch kicking danilo, which happened 2 days ago?

One glance at SRJ's past anti-Bush posts screams the answer yes.

How about providing some evidence of this... could you maybe try? Is it possible danilo was warned? Is it possible the post after the warning that sent danilo to Never-Never Land is no longer on this board? How about all the disagreements I've had with other democrats that are still posting on this board? How about DREAMer? The guy has bashed my very religion, been corrected on it and refuses to accept he's wrong. He's still posting.

Personally I think it's the other way around: "If I have a different opinion than Clutch then I'll use 'The admins are out to get me!' as a crutch"

What is it with some of you people? You really think I want to weed this board out until everyone is all Clutch-agreeing "Yes, man" Republicans? Please. If your flaming left-wing and don't like me because I hate Al Gore, fine... but it has zero effect on how I run this board.

Lastly, I've got to tell you ScreamingRocketJet: me having or not having your respect means absolutely jack to me.

I've certainly seen some really outragious BLASTs at Clutch, that usually last on the board only minutes.

IMO, if Clutch tosses someone, it was because they lost total composure in their final post, or via email.

It is one thing that their argument had few logical bearings on either side, but Clutch never lost composure. Danilo totally did. Bye bye!

While trying not to appear as a Clutch-agreeing "Yes, man" Republican (Lord help me if I do), I can say that I was there and saw danilo's last post. After all the warnings, he had it coming to him with that last one.

While I've been at the center of the disagreements with Clutch during the last few weeks or so, I've loved every minute of it. He shouldn't have to feel like he can't engage in debates like this. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to express his opinion on controversial matters like the next guy just because he's the one that runs the sight.

I look forward to more spirited debates in the future.

Can someone at least describe the gist of Danilo's last post? I hate missing out.

    SRJ:
"...but you are that extreme in some of your condemnations of people's opinions that differ to yours..."
I would also like to see some examples of this. Don't use the thread which ultimately got Danilo booted, because that certainly does not qualify is "extreme condemnation of someone's opinion"

I think you can sum it up very simply: if Clutch tells you not to do something, and you do it again on purpose, then you can put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.

Clutch has become more of a jerk because he has started to hang around me. The thought of possibly losing ScreamingRocketJet's respect might cause him to distance himself from me though, I'm afraid. Our Austin Rocketball outings might be in jeopardy. Thanks a lot, SRJ.

Well, I didn't see Danilo's last post. But I've seen alot of crap that Clutch puts up with on this board, and lets go without reprisal. I've met Clutch a couple of times, and he's a pretty easygoing guy. So whatever was posted had to be pretty serious (and added to the cumulative weight of other bad posts) to get Danilo banned. Give Clutch the benefit of the doubt on this one; he's earned it.

I agree though about the harshness of the political threads in general. They've been pretty heavy-handed: no quarter asked or given. Personally, I've enjoyed the debate, and am sorry that we'll be seeing less of them in the future. It beats "I love the Rockets more than you do" conversations. Just don't expect the same civility you see on other topics. And BTW I disagree about the whole Republicans-outnumbered-by-Democrats thing. It seems pretty even, at least in terms of those active in the political threads.

Basically, what I should've added in my first reply, is that Clutch really doesn't take disagreements that seriously. We've been clashing for the past few weeks, yet twice we've gotten together, along with others I've disagreed with such as BrianKagy (another admin), and we've had great times.

So, Danilo deserved it, I have no doubt about that.

I think danilo said something along the lines of, "Obviously, Mo Taylor is the greatest basketball player of all time." [IMG]

    Hello, the infamous Danilo here.

I would like to apologize to Clutch on behalf of my patronizing. Even though I strongly believe in the 1st Amendment, I understand that it truly doesn't exist under certain circumstances (ie mouthing off the refs in the NBA or annoying administrators on their BBS).

My last post did crack a playful joke on Clutch's ego, yet I did end it very sincerely and respectfully. Although I do not think it warranted a ban, I wanted to offer a public apology and ask for a second chance.

As a sign of comradery I have chosen the username 'Transmission' to resemble the uniting with Clutch. Perhaps our beloved country can also unite under president-elect Bush.

That is almost touching, assuming it isn't heypartner and one of his 1,000,000 phony usernames. I'd never thought of the auto-part reference. The name sounds like an autobot. Is "sparkplug" taken?
