For me it is that we have improved at every position. At Center - You have start with a healthy Yao returning. For all the hoopla surrounding Artest Yao returning already makes us a championship contender. We also added Dorsey, IMO THE BEAST (Dorsey) will eventually earn alot of Yao's backup minutes. Of course a more experienced Scola will help too and Deke if he returns. At Power Forward - Scola has a year of experience under his belt which usually translates to improvement. Same for Landry? Plus Artest can play some solid minutes along with DOrsey. Small Forward we have a new starter in Artest. That alone is a big improvement. We also now have the best 6th man in the league in Battier and Tmac, and Barry can fill in when needed. Shooting Guard - We finally got a legitimate backup and shooting ace for Tmac in Brent Barry, Artest can help their too. Point guard - This is by far are weakest spot but I can finally say Rafer doesn't make me puke. He actually played the best basketball of his career at the end of last season and into the playoffs. I though if he doesn't get injured we might have beat the Jazz. But that only amplifies are biggest remaining weakness and that is a backup pg. If Brooks shows alot of improvement we might be good there but he is still smallish. The perfect scenario would be for a new and improved Stevie to return but I wouldn't hold my breath. Still this are biggest weakness and even that is better.
everything. i can't wait to see the big 3 together. i can't wait until ron helps us win games that tmac is missing with injury. i can't wait to see ron and battier playing together. i can't wait to see how barry works in this offense. i can't wait to see how brook's speed helps the rotation.
I have to say it is "GM Morey". I'm anticipating his every move. And he has just begun to put his fingerprints on this franchise.
rafer starts.........then we have barry, francis and brooks. i honestly believe that we will be fine with the pg postion. look at the two teams in the finals last year rafer>>>fisher/rondo francis= sam cassell barry = eddie house brooks = farmar it may be our weekest postion, but thats only cuz we're stackd at all the others.
Yes I agree. Unlike many people on this board I was a fan of CD but Morey is on a different level. He just keeps 1'upping himself. The only way he could do better this summer is if he took the rest of our expirings and got Chris Paul.
Looking forward to the different playing combinations. Do we play Battier & Barry more with Yao Ming because of their 3-pt shooting? Would we be better bringing Artest off the bench? How will Scola play along side Yao? I thought he was able to use his post up moves more after Yao got injured. Will Dorsey be the defensive player that Morey talked about? Watching how we dictate the match ups, forcing the opponents to counter our moves. Most of all, looking to top 22 wins in a row and a deep playoff run.
Same thing that gets me excited every other season... it's yet another Rockets season where we can build our hopes up for a ring!
Acquiring Ron Artest was the most exciting development for me. I was kind of ho hum about the off season so far. I figured the Rockets were going to stand pat and that we had a good team, and with everyone healthy we could take another shot at the post season. In the back of my mind I figured we could get past the first round but I didn't think we had enough talent wise to make a deep run in the playoffs. Just adding him to the team has pushed our talent from just above middle of the pack to among the best in the Western conference. Of course it could all blow up in our faces if Ron doesn't fit in. But like it has been said many times, Ron only has one year on his contract so we can get out of it if does blow up. Man I am really excited about next year, it should definitely be entertaining either way.
Hi im excited but still think we need that proven backup center, and pg. Its ok to forget about the pg since barry, but why dont we atleast get a center thats proven as a starter like Zaza from atlanta. This trade http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...=2834~2763~3018~2016&teams=1~1~1~10&te=&cash= could help us rest yao more and i think its perfect to clear out some roster spots.
I agree with everybody basically, and expect a grand performance by our guys. But I can't help but be excited about Steve's rehab. Man, if this guy can be anything like his start last year, wow, just wow. I honestly believe Rafer, Steve and Aaron can man the pg spot fabulously. Yippee for our team!
i am excited because artest said, "We're coming after everybody!" also, I can't wait to see Yao on the court again. He's always been my favorite player to watch!
i can't wai to watch double teams of Artest and Battier on people like: Igoudala, Anthony, Bosh, Duncan, Ginobili, Boozer, Kobe, Dirk, Stephen Jackson and Elton Brand. imagine the look on their faces when they see a "fan punching" Artest starin them in the face with fire shooting from his fingertips and a bald ass "i dunno if he's black or white" Battier grinning at them as to say "you're pretty much ****ed - give us the ball and just walk away"
I am most excited that the Rockets finally added some toughness to the team. No longer are they going to be easily deterred from what their trying to accomplish. I don't want the Rockets to just win basketball games, I want them to dominate them. Welcome back glory days, oh how i've missed you! Go Rockets!!
This is the first year since the Hakeem era where I truly feel that we have a legitimate shot at the ring. This is what gets me excited.
