Coming from Canada, it's a bit of a shock to realize that some of your favorite things just aren't available here. For me it's mostly junk food, so it isn't necessarily a bad thing:

    Chocolate bars:
    Mr. Big
    Coffee Crisp

    Chips:
    Anything by Old Dutch

    Restaurants:
    Earl's
    A&W (Canadian menu)
    Taco Time

    Cereal:
    Shreddies

Taco Time.....what do they call their tator tots? It's hard to take a Northwest Mexican fast food restaurant all that seriously, but I have to admit, I've eaten their several times: Kamloops, Burnaby, Nanaimo, and I think at some mall in Vancouver.

I wish we could get decent dough here in Houston.

    bagels
    pizza
    hard breads

In Yankee land you can get those things (and made right!) on every corner.

I would seriously consider donating one of my lesser-used body parts if Roscoes Chicken n Wallfles and Zankou Chicken, both from Los Angeles, would open outlets in Houston!

I'll list the ones I REALLY want:

    1) Double Dave's Pepperoni Rolls
    2) The Spuderito from Rick's in Pasadena, CA
    3) Tommy's Burgers
    4) Pink's chili dogs

I went to the last 3 while visiting my brother in law in LA. The food there was so good that I actually thought about never coming back. I went to Pink's and I'll tell you that I haven't stepped into a James Coney Island since. For all the atheists out there, when I tried a Pink's chili dog, I saw the face of God. I have proof he exists. :D

I also went to in and out burgers, but I like Tommy's better.

Growing up in Detroit, I ate a lot of White Castle burgers (possibly part of the reason I became a vegetarian). When we would get together with the grandparents and cousins, someone would invariably make a White Castle run and come back with bags and bags of those little burgers.

I've actually seen packs of White Castles for sale in the freezer at Kroger and Sam's Club.

    1. Real italian coffee (espresso; you just don't find it made the same way here)

    2. San Pellegrino orange soft drink. And I mean, REAL ORANGE, you know, not Fanta/Shasta/Tang. I drank this stuff by the gallon in Sicily. I'm not even a brother (;)); maybe I oughtta market that stuff in Houston and get rich.

    3. Girarrosto (roast-over-a-wood-fire chicken; you get it at Macaroni bar & grill but it's not like the real thing, cooked with potato wedges inside, and all these herbs...no, not those kind of "herbs.")

Is Pizza My Heart that good? I like Pleasure Pizza in Capitola, it is world renowned or something. People from Europe actually go there before the beach. I haven't tried PMH.

I wish we had Whattaburger out here in Cali. Every freakin' burger joint here is the same, except In-and-Out, but their menu is VERY limited.
