Wasn't TMo supposed to be our answer at SF? Didn't we trade a 1st rder to get him? Wasn't he supposed to have top-5 pick potential? It was said that he could defend, shoot the three, has smooth handles, and was an all-around great player? So after a freshmen year shooting slump, he's already a has-been? Is he not our SF of the future? Let's give him a chance to work out!
I never understood he Hype around this player. He did defend well at times, and rebound, but his shooting was poor. He seemed to lack confidence. We should see what he can do in the summer leagues before we send him with Langhi and Walt to releaseville.
Tmo was a 2nd Rd. pick, not much 'hype' associated with that. Some players dont develop the 1st year, especially with limited PT. I think with some confidence TMo could be decent.
HYPE? ANSWER AT SF? Maybe my memory is not serving me well, but he was a 2nd round pick, and there was little hype, other than Rudy being fairly excited about getting him, surrounding the guy. I think he was a great player for where he was drafted, but I still don't remember him being touted as the answer at our small forward slot.
Morris is one of those (extremely) rare players in which the extra year of college hurt his career. He would have been a lottery pick had he declared after his sophmore or junior season, but he had a poor senior season at Maryland and his draft status dropped
Every time I saw him in the game he would brick ugly shot after ugly shot. It became so frustrating in fact that at one point I threw a Miller Lite beer can at my television. The first sub off the bench during games last year was always Tmo and I never understood that. Some of you guys say he is starter material, and others say that he is an all-star in the making?!?! All I see is a guy that is going to ride the end of the bench and get maybe 10 minutes a game next year. Someone PLEASE convince me that we should keep Tmo and he is a valuable part of our roster. And dont give me "he is a good defender who hussles" bs.
I feel your frustration but I'm not ready to give up on him. 1. He has an excellent NBA body. Nice weight and height with pretty good mobility and speed. 2. He already proved to be good on defense (blocks, boards, defense). 3. In preseason, he was shooting very well from 18ft+ So I know he isn't as bad as we witnessed. I think his problem is confidence which is why I beleive Rudy was playing him a lot. This guy has the tools to be pretty solid. So I don't want to give up yet due to lack of confidence. If after the 2nd season, we don't see any improvement, he's gotta go. Afterall, Thomas was a 2nd rounder and after his third season he's showing big dividends.
What ever happened to Terence Morris? I think people have been asking this question since he finished his sophmore season at Maryland.
He has the potential in that his body is a great NBA body and that he shows signs of having the skills every now and then. He needs to work HARD this offseason on every aspect of his game in order to be backup or spot starter material. I dont see him ever becoming an all star though.
It's not that hard to figure out I guess because with 2 of the 3 SFs in the rotation being injured for a signifigant time. Morris was backup SF of choice, while KT was doing an admirable job as the starter. Who else should have come in first? The only other option is Langhi, and he had to have been doing something wrong for him to get into the dog house so badly. I've always said he could be starter material if he finds his jumpshot again. You've said that you were frustrated about brick after brick. I don't see the games so I don't feel the same anger. But other than Morris' shooting.... what problems do you have with his game? What other signifigant holes does he have to work on? Plus he's just one of the many reasons we've got the number one pick in this year's draft How can you hate that?
Kenny Thomas was picked in the first round, albeit later in the round when the Rockets' record warranted lower picks... How about Cuttino Mobley as a 2nd round steal?
Drewdog, if you're going to throw your beer cans at the tv, at least throw a better beer. Hopefully TRock will improve his shooting this year. He got much better at the end of the season. His overall FG% was better than Griffin's overall FG%, but it was his disasterous start (was it 1 for 20 at the start?) during the early months and his season-long inability at 3 point range. I did not see many games, but would speculate that he needs to vary his shot selection not to mention practice, practice, practice. It would seem to all be confidence. FREDTERP
