He got injured, he has a fracture near his right groin, his season may be over. They don't need him anyway they got Battier.

Riiiiiight... Memphis definitely has everything they need. Their record is irrelevant!

I'd bet you'd have Dickerson, Battier, and Gasol all starting if Dickerson returned tomorrow, and that Memphis would be the better for it.

Nah, Dickerson/Battier wouldn't be starting... lineup will be

    PG - Jason Williams
    SG - Battier/Dickerson
    SF - Gasol
    PF - Swift
    C - Lorenzen Wright

Dickerson off the bench. Or Battier off the bench. Doubt both would start.

how about Kenny Thomas + Jason Collier + our 1st rounder = Shane Battier?

There aren't many good SF's in this draft and Battier would be a good fit here since he's not a ball hog and he's a good defender.

    Rockets 02-03
    F - Battier/Rice/Morris
    F - Griffin/Taylor
    C - Cato/Willis*/2nd rounder** or free agent***
    G - Francis/Norris/Brown*
    G - Mobley/Torres*

    *Re-Sign
    **Andy Ellis? Dan Gadzuric?
***Hanno Mottollo? Zendon Hamilton? Obina Ekezie? Loren Woods? Wang ZhiZhi?

Swift's been coming off the bench for most of the year now. He's been a good contributer, so I don't see a reason for that to change now. I believe Gasol's mainly been playing the 4 and 5 spot this year.

Right now with all their injuries, they're starting :
    PG - Knight
    SG - Battier
    SF - Long
    PF - Gasol
    C - Massenburg

When, if(?) all their guys come back, I figure they'll start :
    PG - Williams
    SG - Dickerson
    SF - Battier
    PF - Gasol
    C - Wright

Look at those two lineups, and the first one beat Utah ?

Swift doesn't even start now with Dickerson out. Massenburg and Long start. Wright will start when he heals. Gasol could play 3,4 or 5.

Opps, just saw the post above. Sorry, Ace. Didn't mean to pile on.

actually they are quite happy with BRevin Knight at the point..Even wwhen JWILL comes back, Knight might remain the starting pg..regardless, this is probably in the wrong forum now.

Wasn't Swift a number two or three pick or somthing? I havn't really followed him but it seems like he's turned out to be a bust.

Swift was picked 2nd overall in the 2000 draft. He was mainly picked because of his raw athletic ability and big upside. It's safe to say he was a project. Versace and co. turned down a few different offers from teams, because they liked what they saw in him. The main deal was the 5th, 13th and a player(Maggette?) from Orlando.

Anyway, he only played 1 1/2 seasons of college ball as I think he was academically ineligible for the first part of the year. He had something of a breakout year in his sophmore year, which lead to him getting drafted.

A lot of people thought that he'd have somewhat of a breakout year , his 2nd in the league(like he did in college) , and he has to some extent. Stro's got averages of 13/7 , mainly off the bench. Considering like every game last year Stro had the ''deer in the headlight'' look everytime on defense, he's come a long way. It's becoming more apparent each game that he's going to be something special, although it will take a bit more time.
