I being born in the year 1991, and not a true sports fan until around 2004/2005 have yet to experience the thrill of watching a championship run.

Yes the Rockets won 2 but I was far to young and busy playing with Tonka trucks to car.

Since I have become a "die-hard" sports fan my three teams I follow have consequently either gotten worse or repeatedly let me down.

    These are my big 3

    Astros
    Texans
    Rockets

I'd imagine it would be crazy. As i've aged and matured i've slowly become much much more into the games when I see them and watch them on TV. I used to not care as much when one of my teams loses. Now I have to banish myself from ESPN and any other sports network until the highlights and conversations have ceased.

So does it feel to experience the title run?

Where were you? What did you do?

I need this type of sheer madness.

I've already established to myself that when any of these Houston franchises make it to the big games again I will spend whatever $ is required to be their in person.

Unfortunately the last time I was at a game like that ended with the White Sox hoisting a trophy ;(

Hopefully it happens in the near future ;)

It was one of the greatest feelings in the world when UA won it all last year.

I unfortunately don't have a true college affiliation yet. Sadly I'm at HCC right now. But next fall I'm hoping on planning to transfer to LSU.

I can't imagine how awesome it is attending college sporting events decked out in your teams colors.

It meant the world to me. I remember game 1, and thinking the rest of the country was watching our Houston Rockets.

It was a sense of I can't believe that in my (short) lifetime, I got to see a championship.

I was born in 1989 and still attended every Rockets playoff game during the championship years. The closest feeling I have felt since the is the Astros world series run in 05.

While being really excited about the rockets winning in 94 and 95... I was barely getting into Basketball... had started watching around 91 when I could kind of grasp the concept of the game (being 7) and watched "basketball"... then late in the 93 season I started watching the Rockets moreso than just the Sunday NBC game (ie: Jordan Afternoon Basketball)

When the Astros made the World Series, I thought I'd finally get to relive that moment, but with a whole lot more meaning behind it. Sadly... we got swept.

Otherwise... my teams have been a huge pile of not quite good enough.

I live in Hawaii and I'm a Rockets (Olajuwon-Drexler), 49ers (Jerry Rice-Steve Young), Giants (Barry Bonds-Will Clark) fan. I rarely go to any games because I am stuck here on an island.

I was a fan of the Rockets when they won their first title (I was 15 years old). I became a fan of basketball because of Olajuwon.

In 1995 when the Rockets AND 49ers won it all, I thought this was easy and my teams will keep winning forever. I realized as years went on it wasn't that easy and shouldn't be taken for granted.

The closest any of my teams got close to winning it all was in 2002 when the Giants went to the World Series against the Angels. Series was Giants 3 Angels 2 - Game 6 up 5-0 going into the bottom of the 7th. I could see my idol Barry Bonds smiling and finally winning it all (the announcers mentioned he was going to be named WS MVP). Then the worst possible comeback happened - the rally monkey for their 7th inning stretch. I guess the crowd got back in the game and they came back to win 6-5. My body/soul died a little and I knew Game 7 would be tough to win because Livan Hernandez was set to start and he was playing like crap. They ended up losing and this is when I told myself the next time ANY of my teams go to the championship/finals I will be there to witness.

Well, the Giants finally won in Dallas, I watched both games 4 & 5. While at Game 4, I noticed a ton of Giants fans on the third deck level making a ton of noise, I paid $1200ea per ticket to be near their dugout but it was quiet as hell.

I didn't have a ticket for game 5 so I ended up buying another ticket on StubHub, with the thought of being in the third deck (It was pretty cheap tickets $250 ea, I guess the Rangers fans gave up and it was on a Monday).

Game 5 started and I was all around Giants fans - it was awesome. When Wilson struck out Nelson for the final o ut, it was pandamonium in our section, I lost my voice temporarily. I ended up staying to the very end, watching the Giants celebrate with the trophy - security finally had to kick us diehards out. It's like something I never felt before - words cannot describe the feeling and I couldn't even sleep at night. The next morning I was just watching all the highlights on the internet (even saw myself on one of the highlights) and posting on message boards.

In the end, I am undefeated 2-0 :) while watching my team play in the championship games. I will ALWAYS attend any of my teams games no matter what the cost or time it takes to get there. You can bet I will be there to enjoy the same feeling again!

you really do feel invisible, can talk so much smack to others who aren't fans and just grasp the moment

I was just 12/13 at the time but as about my 4-5 year following the team since the 89-90 season.

Game 7 in '94 was epic, day after my birthday and the whole family gathering around our 32 inch TV in the living room, after the game, my elder sister drove me and my other sister around the neighborhood, honking our horns, shouting outside my sister's sunroof, high 5iving everybody in the streets like we just won a war.

Good times, but honestly, the feeling can't be explained.

I was 6 and 7 when the Rockets won it all. I didn't fully understand the game, but I had a hoop in the driveway and I'd play with my brothers and friends.

I don't remember watching the actual game, but I vividly remember the award ceremonies, especially Rudy T.'s "heart of a champion" speech. I remember my dad pleading with my mom to come watch history, but she wasn't interested. I remember hearing/singing Queen's "We are the Champions" a lot. I remember waiting in line with my dad to get a "Back2Back" championship t-shirt, and wearing it around everywhere I could, even though it was too big for me. I remember pretending to be Robert Horry for a long time after that, because we had similar games. I remember when we did acrostic poems in elementary school, the "H" in my name always stood for "Hakeem's biggest fan."

I remember not liking Barkley very much because my parents thought he was a bad role model. Haha.

All in all, pretty awesome memories. The likes of which I likely won't experience again until I have kids of my own.

Sounds like some cool stuff. Sports really are amazing and can bring together a community/city and form a camaraderie.

I remember when the Rockets won their first championship. I was about 13 and had never seen anything like it. Even the 2nd title didn't quite stack up to the first.

As a kid, its one of the greatest moments ever. The whole city was buzzing and we were out the next day lining up for t-shirts. I'll never forget it.

It's a super high feeling. I was 19 when Houston won their first championship and still remember Mad Max hitting that 3 to seal the deal. Of course, the high continued with Drexler and Houston repeating.

It's been a long time since the glory days. I definitely cherished the title wins knowing that is was Houston's first championship in any sport. I just didn't think it would take this long for us to win another one. It doesn't help the f'n Spurs have taken over us as the most winningest NBA team in Texas either.

I still have hope that the Rockets will win it all. Come on Houston!

dude, you were playing with tonka trucks during the '94 series. Did you have a white bronco truck, too? If so, you rock!

    Boston here

It's a great feeling when the Sox and Pats won all their recent championships. The ones during my college days, you could hear the dorms literally shaking when our championships were cemented. Celebrate, get drunk, talk about the great moments and comebacks, get drunk some more, and but the celebration eventually ends and it's back to study and work.

Not really a Celtics fan though, probably because I just flat out don't like post-Wolves KG.

ok, i'm just getting all excited about the idea that someone here might have been playing with a white bronco toy truck during game 6, so forgot to add to the thread.

Listen, I'm just a bandwagoner...I don't really care about the team until they win. it's all about the parades and the girls. The girls get really frisky during the parades.

Both Rockets championships I was here in Austin going to UT. It's too bad that I missed the crazy Richmond scene that all my friends told me about. We went to Sixth St. after the Magic sweep and there were a lot of brooms out.

Vince Young 2005 was incredible. We were having a party at my house and when he scored I took off running into my street and I could hear the whole neighborhood going crazy.

Last year was a let down for the Horns.

I was in the Summit both years when they won....

the first year was just ridiuclously. MadMax hit that shot, and I realized it was going to happen...and I didn't cry...dude, those weren't tears. My eye was watering. I got a bug in it.

the second year was flat out pride. watching that team respond the way they did and come together was inspirational, even to folks who weren't rockets fans. it was such a huge validation for the franchise and for the first title. and Hakeem was so other-worldly, it was sick. i woke up the next morning and i remember my father saying, "man, i'm disappointed it's over. i'm glad they won. but disappointed it's over, because i don't think i'll ever see anything like that in pro sports again."

My connection to the Astros is super-deep. Goes back to my grandparents and their love of the 'stros and baseball, generally. I was emotional when they won the pennant in 05. I can't imagine how I'd be if they won a World Series. I think about that quite a bit. I hope I'm alive to see it happen one day.
