I think we need to work on Yao.

Hammer into his mind this simple question:
How hard is it to learn to catch a lob pass and then to hold on to it on the way down?

Nailing coffin lids closed in fourth quarters.
Seriously. Kicking the other team when they are down, and finishing them off.

Also, after getting blown by 40 in a game 7, maybe some self-respect exercises.

I chalk that up to our age, not everyone on the team can keep up with Tracy and Yao sometimes is tired himself or on the bench because of foul trouble, but this years team was years ahead of the team Steve lead into the 4th... so overall AGE and stamina

I'd really like to see T-Mac and Yao spend some time practicing together. At the end of the season Yao still didn't seem to know when T-Mac was going to pass the ball. And when he did it would be at his feet.

I read in Kareem's farewell book that he used to train by rebounding and volley-balling a heavy medicine ball off the backboard.

He said it strengthened his hands, wrists and forearms. Also helped with eye/hand coordination.

I think this exercise would help Yao hang on to the ball.

    why???

The more Yao plays, the more I see signs of the occasional attitude. With time he will shed his timid skin and eventually take you into an alley and commenserate in kicking your ass.;)

It's a fantasy, the guy refuses to stand up for himself. Even when he has surgery and has publicly stated many times thathe needs rest, yet hewill probbaly go back to China once again at the request of his ignorant CNT officials. Maybe an ass kicking wil teachhim that he needs to grow some balls for once.

They should practice throwing entry passes and lob passes over the defense. What they should do is tie a huge umbrella to Yao's waist that sticks up about 3 feet above his head and then throw the lob pass over the umbrella to Yao from the back while he is turned and facing the bucket.

Yao should practice catching medicine balls with one hand thrown to him from a pitching machine.

Yao should practice playing defense with his arms splinted straight up above his head. His arms should be splinted to 2x4s and tied together so that he cannot lower them and reach. All he can do is move his feet into position and jump up.

Ryan Bowen should take 1000 15-17 footers a day.

    McGrady should practice resting.

Nice is not the problem, McGrady is a very nice guy as well, but on the court he is a different animal, he has enough aggression that gains respect from his peers. Yao, sadly, doesn't have that respect. When a lil punk like Josh Howard stares him down, that says it all. You would never see another player in the NBA stare down McGrady, and if he does, then he would be made to regret it for the rest of his life.

So being nice in real life is a good thing, being nice on a basketball court is not; it would only earn you a reputation as a "pu**y", and you wouldn't get any respect not only from other NBA players, but from the refs as well.

TMac - maybe three pointers so he can make over 50% 3 pointers

Yao - Stamina, protect the ball by swinging some elbows, practice dunking with all kinds of angle and distance from the basket so he would dunk more

Sura - 3 pointers, catch n shoot rip hamilton type of game

Anyway, we're fine just need more young players.

Yao is the smallest problem we have...other than Tracy.

JVG learns how to play ZONE.
Zone defense can give Yao more playing time.

    1) The Rox are not a very good rebounding team. Zones stink for blocking out the offensive players.

    2) The man to man the Rockets play uses zone principles as it soft traps all dribble penetration.

Rox zone is not going to happen and I'm glad.

Exactly, Magic Johnson was a nice guy, Hakeem was nice guy, Hell, even Shaq was a nice guy....off the court. Once you got them on the court, it was war. Thats the type of menatality Yao has to take into the games. Even Magic and Isiah said, we love eachother, but on the court, we hate eachother (or something to that extent).
