I'm having trouble deciding myself and thought I'd ask what other people think :).

I didn't know if I was glad... or not... when we acquired him. I thought Thomas was probably a slightly better player, but that Posey was a better fit.

I appreciate some of the things Posey does. He always hustles, he always plays hard on D, and he moves well w/o the ball.

But I think he overreaches sometimes on offense. Especially during the Sacramento game, he seemed to try to do some of the same things that Francis and Mobley do... and he failed. He's simply not their caliber when it comes to playing one-on-one basketball. He did that a lot w/the Nuggets... but I had assumed it was because they didn't have much offense. Now, he still seems to force the issue too much.

    The real question is:

Does Posey play within his limitations as a role player?

I wish he would more, but that he's made good adjustments from being a top option on the Nuggets... and I have high hopes he can continue this to a greater extent.

i liked the trade, but i did hate giving up thomas... wish it ended up with mo t in philly, but oh well...

posey really isnt a shooter, but he hustles and plays d... and you know what they say about d...
the only real reason why we made the trade was to get something out of thomas... and if we kept thomas we would loose him to FA...we have too much money in mo t to sit on the end of the bench, and we are all hoping that eddie can get an outside shot and better at posting up.... this is only his 2nd year you know.. and the thing we got was someone to fill in the 3 spot, yes it is a bandaid.. but i think a good bandaid.

I think Posey is sort ofwhat Shandon Anderson did for us (only in a small fowards body.)He hustles till the whistle blows, occasionally makes a couple from beyond the arch.
He still needs some development hitting open treys. If we get that from him,we'de be really unstoppable.he brings it on the defense side. The foul trouble reason being. :) Basically consistency on the offensive side is whats keeping him frombeing really something.

He's a slasher. A wing-man. A scorer. He's decent on defense and a solid offensive player. He makes things happen. He was leading Denver in scoring at 14ppg.

He's not a shooter. But I feel he gives us that tall slasher capability that Rice or Mobley can't give. Posey is also very good at moving (and receiving) without the ball. Notice he always seems to sneak behind the defense for those easy chippy lay-ups? :D

He's also a very good finisher on the fast break! And not too bad at hammering it down!

i think he's a good addition to the team. brings commitment to D to the rox and passes the ball around well. he's getting reasonable assist & rebound numbers.

while his shooting is a little poor, he has had hot games. if you're very open & the shot is within your range, you should be taking the shot unless you can get a pass off for a better shot. he definetly needs to improve his consistancy w his shooting.

It's been discussed. At 4M a season, we'd LOVE to have him back next year. But nothing more than that because his shot is awful and hasn't improved since he came into the league.

Hopefully, we'll settle for an offer that gives him a starting salary equal to the MCE (4.8 or 4.9M) and he accepts to stay with us.

    Otherwise, sign and trade him.

amen... i hope we still have him next year... but if we dont i hope we get something out of him... he hits our 3 better and is a good backup at the 2... boy are we deep deep deep and gaurd, but thats a good thing... and im guessing we are grooming boki to be a starter since he is our "next year first round pick" from what ive seen with nachbar i say put him out there instead of t norris. its too bad he is hurt... get well soon boki

I think we need a role player who will consistently hit open shots! Posey just seems too similar to Shandon Anderson to me, and that just didn't work out. I mean if they can't get anyone better, then I'd take him for a smaller contract, but that's about it.

the best fit we can have at SF position is a player who can knock down open shots and play tough defense....

Posey actually fits in okay.... except for the knocking down open shots things..... hopefully the summer will give him enough time to start working on his shots and the Rocks sign him back.... it will be nice if he can get his % up to around 45%.......

I like JP. However, sometimes he is like a bull in a china shop. As out of control as Francis and Mobley play sometimes, JP can be just as bad.

Overall, he has brought to this team about what I expected. Limited offense and above average defense. :)

The Posey for Kenny Thomas trade is another of Rudy and Carroll's great moves. He's been a great addition to the team. Most of all I like his slashing abilities...something this team needed.

I've never seen anybody screw up as many dunks as he does.

I cringe every time he takes a shot regardless of where he is on the floor or how open he is. His defense is good but I would be just as happy with Hawkins coming in to add defense. I think we could get by without resigning him after this season and have Boki/Hawk/Morris/Rice if he isn't traded and healthy for our small forwards.

We need to move the ball faster up court and you will see the difference he makes.

Go back on the videotape and examine the quality of pass when he "screws up" a dunk. Usually the pass is too far behind him or off to one side. Remember, a dunker can look very good or very bad depending on the quality of lob pass.

James Posey for KT is a net +.

I like his work eithic, his commitment to defense, and his come-to-play attitude every nite - the team can definitely learn from him.

Sometimes he gets out of control offensively, and needs to improve his shot selection, but he's a strong defensive 3 that we sorely need, and a slasher. I think we'll re-sign him. I love his energy, his heart, & the fact that he doesn't demand the ball.

Posey sometimes plays too aggressive and out of control, but he doesn't play dumb. He knows what he's doing out there, and he tries to get the ball to Yao.

I can't stand Posey. He is the worse shooter on the team. He turns the ball over all the time. He can't catch a pass from ming to save his life. He can't make a shot unless he has a clear path to the rim. HE misses alley oop every game. The only thing good he provides is his rebounding and KT was a better rebounder. I think Hawk is better than him in every category except rebounding. I hope we let him walk this summer, and if we keep him it for cheap.

Great deal, getting JPo. He is everything this team needs (except a shooter). He will continue to get better. Maybe even develop a decent shot?

ReSIGN the man. Please keep it closer to 5 mil to start, but ReSIGN JPo.

It's not just the alley-oops that he misses, I've seen him miss plenty of dunks off of drives. He should just try to lay it in instead of going for the monster slam.
