What do folks put Bari’s extension at? He’s the best shooter of the core 7 and he’s become one of our best defenders. He’s still one of the youngest guys on the team, and he’s the tallest of our core. Certainly limited athletically, but getting stronger every season. I think Bari is a must to extend. I put him around $30 mil per.

What do u put Bari’s extension at?

    Agreed. 30/yr

Big men take awhile and he's on the come.

    Longtime starting 4.

In my Core 7 spreadsheet, I have him at roughly
    • 16% of Cap (1st yr)
    • = $25m (1st yr)
    • = $29m (average) for 5yrs (max raises)

However, for me, that is my anticipated best production from him. At this point, to get that, he’ll need to show-out in the playoffs.

I think Stone will get him for less now, or by attaching incentives.

I think he'd take $25M AAV over 4 or 5 years. Offer him more than Dillon Brooks and it will be hard to say no. That's generational wealth for a guy who is currently a roleplayer.

Career shooting of 33.8% and 35.4% this year......if that is the best shooter of the 7 then the 7 are going nowhere to begin with.

I think some will be surprised what he signs. I’m guessing around the ballpark of Johnson, etc. (5 yrs, 130 - 150)

Jabari being the best shooter out of the core 7 is so incredibly sad…he’s not even an average shooter

On that note: my 16% cap target is a salary comp of what Jaden McDaniels got. His 3rd year before signing he shot 40% from 3, and got All-Defense 2nd Team the yr after signing.

But now that it looks like his 40% was an outlier, is he worth that?

look at Bari’s improvement from year 1-2. Then look at what bari was shooting this year after his poor start until he got hurt. I see big progress. I don’t take his rookie Silas year seriously because he was obviously still adjusting to the nba 3pt line. But if you have watched him the last yr and a half you know that the shooting continues to improve and the defense from yr 2-3 has been a true revolution. I believe he’ll be at least a 37% 3pt shooter in the years to come. I honestly can’t say that for any of the core 7, although I hold out hope for Cam and Reed.

He's actually been pretty much dead-average on 3P% for a power forward this season--35.4% (league-wide it's 35.5% for PFs). However, he takes 4.8 three pointers per game, versus the league average for power forwards of 3.4 attempts. So when you factor in volume, I'd say he's a little bit above-average for his position right now.

Considering he's only 21, and his 3P% was actually a little bit better last season, I feel pretty confident he'll be a good shooter. I don't know if he'll be a great one like he was supposed to be.

it’s not the worst contract in the world…Idk if he’s on track to make another All-Defense, but that could make up for his decline in shooting

I’d be fine offering Jabari similar money

fwiw: he’s having an outlier year shooting poorly on corner threes: 11-37 — 29.7%. (That won’t last)
Last year he shot 46% from corner, 34% ATB.

So, even despite the poor start, he’s improved and well-above league average on above-the-break threes shooting 37%. And like we did with Ariza, we need him out of the corner, so other lessor shooters can take that easier spot.

if u want to compare him to his position, then sure…but compared to the rest of the league, he’s not, and if that’s supposed to be the best shooter that we have out of the core, then yikes

and these are Jabari’s percentages while being the 4th or 5th option on the court getting wide open looks

Yeah, fair, but if you're getting into league-wide averages for all positions you do have to consider that being a 6'11" power forward, he's well above the overall league averages in rebounding, shotblocking etc.

But yes it's pretty sad that he's probably our best shooter out of the young guys at those numbers. Amen gets a pass for doing so many other things well but we should be getting better shooting out of Jalen and Reed in particular.

5/160. He's been a longer term project than I thought he'd be but guys like Jabari don't grow on trees. His dribble has much improved this year and he's been one of the most important defenders on the team.

I'd imagine Stone locks him up as soon as possible.

I hope we can get him locked up for less than that. At $32M AAV his contract could definitely impede our flexibility. I would put that at about the upper limit of my expected range for him, but I'm really really hoping we can get him for closer to $25M AAV, give or take.

yeah, but a starting PF playing 30 mpg should be above overall league average for things like rebounding and shot blocking, that’s expected if for nothing else than height alone…shooting is something entirely different, and Jabari is supposed to be a shooter…that’s his main skillset

Idk wth happened to Reed…I’ve seen people post what his high school shooting percentage was and basically how well he’s shot outside of his college stint, and since then I’ve been wondering if we were bamboozled

Stone needs to get busy this summer because u can’t keep trotting out non-shooter after non-shooter after weak shooter after barely average shooter and think you’re gonna go far in this league
