http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/#/vehiclesMenu/exploreOverview/?vc=GLK&vmf=GLK350W2&yr=2010 looking for a luxury car/suv in the 30-40k for my parents. thanks
Just get your parents the more affordable 2010 Honda CR-V. Why do your parents need a Mercedes brand?
There's no such thing as a 30-40k brand new luxury car. That Mercedes MSRP is 35k with NO OPTIONS. Unless your superficial enough to drive a stripped MB just because of the name I'd get something else.
IMO, GLK and X3 are not really luxury SUVs but overpriced compact SUVs just buy them a certified preowned ML or X5 for the same price or better yet save some money and buy them a CRV or RAV4
How about a 1993 Blazer? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GxhO14JouwU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GxhO14JouwU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
i was thinking the same thing. it really doesn't have any features that a "luxury suv" should have. u even have to pay extra for a built in garage opener. they drive a 04 honda pilot. i drive an 05 camry, sister drives an 00 camry. we are both out of college. they are close to retiring..so thats why we are trying to get something like this. not necessarily to get A CAR. nope. u should have got that from the chepeast benz thread..haha. it's one of those things they talked about throughout life. some sorta accomplishment. a certified preowned is a good idea..it's harder to find a good one.
Eh, I knew somehow that was the intention. Just like one of my relative that bought a Mercedes SUV for their parents or their parents bought it for stupid status reason when we all knew better that all the hard earn money being thrown out the door and now they're back to square one. Just get them an affordable and safety car and save the rest for their vacations.
a glk is smaller and the ride will probably be less or just as luxurious as a pilot.. do they really a mini suv or a crossover? infiniti fx is good by maybe too sporty and a gas guzzler.. howbout a lexus RX or the new Toyota Venza? mercs can last a long time.. you don't really have to buy brand new.. most of the problem is the electricals/electronics so as long as you have extended warranty you are good.. checkout cars.com for certified pre-owned models
My brother is buying a car for his wife. He's looking at the FX 35 in an 08 or 09 model. He wants it fully loaded (navi, 20's) so I think he'll end up getting the 2008 model. This vehicle would fall into what you're looking to pay and I think it's better than the Lexus SUV. There are many options for a sedan. You can go with a G37, M35, TL, RL, 5 series, etc. Personally, I don't like the merc c class unless it's loaded. Or your parents could get like a 06/07 750 (LI preferably) with fairly low miles and do it big!
the fx is def too sporty and is def a gas guzzler. the lexus suv is a good option but i don't know if it will be a big jump from the pilot. the older acura mdx's were a good option but now it seems like they have jacked up the price to fit another model in there.
I would never buy a stripped down Mercedes. There is a reason why people say the C class is not really a Mercedes. The GLK is basically the C Class of their SUVs. The interior looks and feels pretty cheap and it's just not worth the 40k+ that you'll end up spending. I bought my parents a 2010 Highlander for 27k, but I'm sure you can get a much better offer now. By your moniker, I'm assuming that you're Indian....and most Asian/Indian parents love the Highlander.
