What do you guys think of Jalen Rose as a commentator?

    I didn't think he would make a great commentator at first because of his weird articulation. He came across to me as not very intelligent. I have since been very impressed with most of what he's said in the past couple of years. He's very perspective and he expresses his opinions well.

    I like him.

    I can't pay attention to him very long because of the way he talks. The sound of his voice, delivery, etc. is annoying.

    He is the worst part of the ESPN NBA Countdown crew.

    The absolute worst.

    And do you guys say that just because of the way he talks? Does everyone have to talk like an "Uncle Tom" to have your respect? He brings a unique insight as a player and that in itself is very valuable. He's also opinionated and just tells it like it is, and I like that.

    Personally, i just find it annoying, his tone, timing, delivery. It's awkward. It has nothing to do with his intelligence. It's like he's unsure of what he's saying or trying too hard.

    I love him on the Grantland channel. It's given me a lot more respect for the guy

    Talks to slow, very monotone not good for commentating on the sideline.

    I don't even like him on pre-game tip off.

    His Grantland interviews are his best stuff. I don't like their countdown crew as a whole, not just him.

    I find Jalen Rose boring. Dull personality, etc. That said, I've only seen him on ESPN, haven't paid much attention to Grantland.

    Many of the other ESPN commentators are boring too. And most of those who aren't boring try too hard to be hip, cool, or energetic and usually come across as awkward, stupid or fake. JVG is one of the few bright spots there.

    I like him and Countdown is awesome too. Bill Simmons is great, I'm glad he finally got a commentating gig.

    Agreed. And it isn't the delivery, it is what he 'delivers'. I cannot watch/listen to him. He's def not in my Fab Five!

    I don't mind Jalen. But like others have said, the whole crew sucks. They're boring, and they don't seem like they belong together.
