I'm curious. For me, it's 2nd round or complete and utter failure, I am talking trading McGrady, trade Yao, something drastic in the offseason. I would be mildly happy with a 2nd round birth, but it wouldn't be a success in my mind, a success would be getting to the WCF. I felt like this year was a good chance at making the WCF, Dallas got eliminated and we had Game 7 at home, but we failed to capitalize. Next year, I see it as being even tougher, Dallas is probably going to be a top 4 seed, San Antonio isn't going anywhere, Phoenix will be a top seed, and Utah if they stay healthy(hoping that they won't) will win the Northwest. Which means that the most realistic destination for us is a 5 seed once again, facing either SA, Dallas, Utah, or Phoenix in round 1.
Management will lack the balls to deal McGrady. McGrady will be sidelined for most of the season with his usual physical and emotional ailments. If playoffs are made, first round and out again.
Win it all or go home. **** every other option. If you can't build a championship team around 2 superstars. then... Do what ever to the rest of our roster/Coaching staff, just get some help man.
If the roster stays the same, then they are still pretenders, no matter how far they make it in the playoffs. Something needs to happen.
that's likely not enough ... I don't think there's anyone in the NBA that could have made the players around Yao and TMac play better than they did. They just aren't that good.
I went with the conference finals. We should've made the 2nd round THIS season. And considering the Warriors handed the Rockets the gift of home court advantage and not having to face the Mavericks, we could've gotten all the way to the conference finals. The window of opportunity is closing fast on T-Mac and Yao. T-Mac's back is fragile and you never know how long he can last. Same with Yao who's suddenly become injury prone the last couple years. We need to maximize the potential of this duo and we need to do it NOW!!!
This is really a dumb poll and thread. There's a lot of that going around right now, but I felt extra compelled to point that out with respect to this one. What do you mean by, "What do you expect next season?" That is wholly dependent on what transpires over the summer. Coach, trades, retirement, injuries, rule changes / enforcement, etc. With a new GM (Morey) and new coach (?) in place, there is no basis for making a guess about what you expect next season. That being said, I voted for "Win a championship" because every offseason should begin with that goal.
