Was having this conversation with a Korean friend, she was asking what the average American family does with their kids during the summer. My wife and I have a difference in opinion on what people with their kids, so I'm crowd sourcing the answer.
All of the above: camps, grandparents, goof off while Mrs. rimrocker and I work, family vacation, sleepovers here and there, etc.
My sisters kids go to day care. The 3 y/o goes to the same place year round which is a day care/school. They play, watch movies, and school stuff. The 12 y/o goes to a day care that's about staying active physically and mentally. No video games aloud. Kick ball, dodge ball, flag football ect... They do watch movies, required to read or do some sort of activity book, and take field trips. The field trips are Washington on the Brazos and a Astros game.
My kids do a lot of camps, Karate for the older one, basketball and soccer for the younger one. As my wife stays home we also do a lot of day trips. DD
We see my son, who graduated from college a year ago and has a great job in Austin, every week or two on a weekend and have lunch, maybe go to see a movie. He's doing extremely well and looking to go to Japan next year for vacation. While he was going to high school, he asked for the complete Japanese version of Rosetta Stone, knocked that off, and then aced Japanese at his university (I don't know where this child came from!). My daughter is spending a month in Europe with a friend after graduating from her magnet high school, so what are we doing with her? Sending her money. ;-)- Very proud of both of them, but I have a feeling the thread is aimed at members with younger kids.
I haven't heard that word since the Seinfeld episode where Elaine was hauling garbage and driving a delivery truck.
