Just a query on what you like to do when our #8 hitter, powerhouse catcher Brad Ausmus steps into the batters box. Me personally, I like to take a dump or piss.
I wonder why we're the only team with a light hitting player in the 8 spot. Every other team has all-stars batting 8th!!
I actually am ok with it (ive come to grips at this point) as long as no one is on 1st. By the way....am I the only one who wondered why, when we were using a DH in AL parks, that Ausmus was still batting 8th? (as opposed to 9th).
when he gets moved back into the 2 spot, as he will inevitably do, much to my demise, it throws off my biology. I snack at all the wrong times, I run to the bathroom at the wrong time, and I flip the channel, lose the controller, and realize I missed a Berkman home run when I get back.
if there is a runner on, I will con someone into betting he will ground into a double play. He always does, never lets me down.
I never get to watch the games, so I can't just turn the channel. You don't get much coverage in Georgia.
Still waiting for the day to see him dropped to ninth in the order and our pitcher batting in front of him. On a given day i would rather see Backe in there batting 8th before Ausmus.
Ausmus, using only NL stats among catchers, is currently... #31 in BA #21 in OBP #34 in SLG #14 in Hits #25 in HRs #13 in RBIs #16 in TBs #12 in SOs #3 in BBs #15 in CS #15 in SB allowed #15 in FPCT I'd hate to see how he stacks up compared to the ENTIRE league. *shudder*
Well, they can always simulate a double play when grounds the ball in that situation. They can throw it to the shortstop or 2nd baseman at the bag before throwing to 1st.
Hitting a little better on this trip. But it astounds me how the announcers rave so violently about how he is such an incredible defensive catcher. He still "calls a good game" for what its worth, and he blocks the slider in the dirt, but his arm is below average now. I just wish we could find a guy capable of picking the right number of fingers to put down, who could also...I dunno hit .260, walk occasionally and hit 10 dingers in a year.
