The question is simple. I want to know how Clutch Fans prioritize. Putting all your chips in one year to try and win a championship, even if it puts us in a bad position the following year, or do you all prefer trying to build a dynasty similar to OKC or Miami.
How did Miami "Slowly gather pieces until they have a bright looking future, even if it takes a few seasons?" It took them one offseason to create their dynasty.
I feel that we've already done the gather slowly and have bright future for a few seasons now it's time for Parsons to lead us to the promised land and fill the empty lethargic atmosphere with screaming, hardcore fan girls.
Right. It also only took the Bulls one draft pick to get Michael Jordan, took the Thunders just two years in a row with high picks to collect Durant, Westbrook and Harden. So let's do that! World peace will be attained!
I suppose since i brought up this question, I should answer. I feel like looking at this situation we are facing now, Dwight or Draft imposes this possibility. Option 1: If we get Dwight we will have no guarantee of an extension. Secondly can he alone bring this Rockets team to the promised land. Injuries, free agency, and trades could all heavily impact our success, even if we go all out for the star. Who is to know how good the team will do? But in any scenario these factors apply. So this route we are guaranteed at least one strong season with possibly a deep play off push. Option 2: Since Drummond is the hot topic, I will use him as the argument of long term success. The name Kwame Brown strikes me with fear when I look at this guy. However, I feel he will become a much more serviceable pro than Brown ever became. He seems to have descent handle, improving shot mechanics (seen in his raptors youtube workout), and kind of seems like a 7' Stoudemire athleticly. The potential is there. But honestly looking back on it, I believe he got worse at basketball in his time at UCONN since his high school days. Whether he can be trained into a star or even a good player is a huge question mark; however, if we got it right and he is the next big thing, he could be the pillar for long-term success that we have been looking for to replace Yao. So my answer.. I would be happy with either outcome, but I will not give myself the out. If I had to chose and Dwight were indeed available I would go for him. The reasoning.. If we go all in for Dwight and wreck ourselves the next season we might have an insurance policy. The next few drafts #1 picks are going to be stars; Nerlens or Shabaz, Jabari, and Wiggins. So if getting Dwight fails us, we might as well be in the best position for long-term success by gambling and trying to nab a potential star, since, as we have seen, it is a gamble trying to land a star anyways.
