Rafer Alston - very very very streaky shooter i dont trust him with decision making down the stretch and has been turnover prone most of the year Juwann howard - good outside shooter works hard but is a liability on defense and is getting old. what new young pf should we try to sign through freeagency or through the draft
that blows your case (even if your name didnt already) while his shooting may be suspect, his lack of turnovers is the one thing even Clutch will admit is his strength. NEXT
Well seeing how J. Howard isn't a starter I'd go w/ a point guard. At least somone who is good enough to give Alston a break and give the Rox a spark off the bench.
Yep, true. His ballhandling really isn't in question. It's the shooting weakness -- in a role where he takes the third most shots consistently and gets an insane amount of threes. If Rafer could hit wide open shots consistently and take it to the basket on a rare occasion without looking like he had a seizure trying to avoid contact, I'd be a Rafer fan.
Nothing wrong with Rafer we just need to develop Spanoulis as a 10-15 min per game back up since Luther might be one of the worst players in the NBA when he is at the 1 over the 2. PF=pressing need, Chuck is great but we need a younger version of Juwan to pick up his min since Juwan is getting long in the tooth. FYI-THIS TEAM CAN WIN THE TITLE SO NOTHING IS THAT PRESSING. RAFER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>KENNY SMITH
I think you'd be a Rafer fan if Shane started taking Rafer's shots I love Rafer, but he should NOT be the 3rd scoring option on this team. That should goto Shane.
I'd rather finish this playoff strong with a championship first, i'm happy with everyone in the Rox team and would rather care less about trading at the moment.
We need a guy like who can come in off the bench slash score and shoot. Obvioulsy we could never get him but a guy like Barbosa would be ideal. But forget about that for now we have a shot this year.
since we have lost all grip on reality lets send our 1st round pick (26th overall) and umm a pastrami sandwich to Memphis for their 1st round pick. The logo isn't there anymore lets fleece em
there is nothing wrong with his shot selection, his problem is he cant hit them. He makes some of the best decisions on the team, he'sjust not a good enough shooter to hit the open Js. TMax has one of the worst shot selections on the team, even more so than Luther sometimes, but he's talented enough to hit them.
we are fine at the PG level.. Rafer is not all-star, but he gets the job done.. if anything, we need a back-pg so Rafer doesn't have to play all those crazy minutes..
I think the problem with the perception of Rafer and Juwan on the Rockets is compared with the 2 Superstars everyone looks a bit worse than they really are. Because Yao and T-Mac literally are 2 of the top 10 players in the world, solid starter types like Rafer, Juwan, Hayes and Battier seem like mere mortals and maybe even ****ty players playing side by side with them. Rafer I would argue is a top 10 true point guard in the NBA. Juwan is definitely still one of the better offensive power forwards in the league, definitely has one of the best midrange J's. So overhauling the team by trading those 2 or even Hayes would be a mistake if we didn't get equal value or a draft pick with greater potential. Maybe getting Acie Law and Yi Jianlian would be good
