I have a feeling that IF one of the big 6 falls, it will be Bargnani. I really can't believe that Boston would pass on him but I think the greatest possiblity of anybody falling it is him. If Atlanta takes Shelden like we are hearing, and Boston is staring at Bargnani or somebody else, and they take a gamble on O'bryant, Marcus Williams, or somebody else, what do we do?

Do we draft Bargnani and keep him or do we trade the pick? Reports are that he is not NBA ready. Is Van Gundy gonna play him? And if we should trade the pick, who is going to want him and what can we get for him?

Draft.. I think he will contribute a little bit his first year.. Then be a solid piece in his 3rd year.

This thread will get plenty of responses. Of the many responses I am going to guess TWO have seen more than a 3min highlight clip of the guy.

if he falls (which i highly doubt), i'd say we take him. you can't pass on such a shooting talent with a 7'0" body.

take him and be happy. we could then trade swift (+ head) for a veteran sg with starting-caliber, so jvg is satisfied and our biggest problems should be solved. if bargnani isn't nba-ready, start howard and let him come off the bench. he hits open shots and he's a good shotblocker. that'll already be more than stro swift gave us this last season.

This is pretty close to the truth, I imagine. I have seen a little bit more than that of him, but still do not feel like I'm anywhere near informed enough to even make an educated guess on whether we should draft him or not. The front office will just have to prepare themselves for the scenario and if it happens, we'll see what they do. On one hand it would be exciting if they took him because he COULD be something really special, but I'd also be very scared that we wasted our pick on the next Tskitishvili.

Go cauliflower. Listen to all the trade offers, sift, consider then select best opportunity for Rox success.

Oh, this pertains to all that may eventuate leading to, and during, draft nite.

trade the pick! i dont want another benetton trevisio player on our team. but i'm sure there are a lot of teams out there that are willing to overpay to get this guy.

Not sure why I didn't think of that. Someone would probably give us one hell of a deal for the opportunity to select "the next Dirk".

we have to draft him at that point.

do we trade him later? only if the right offer comes in. that offer being a 3rd scorer / starting SG.

If he drops to 8, let him drop to 9.

Draft Brewer. Or draft Bargnani and trade for a lower pick if we can still get Brewer.

I totally disagree with DD on Reddick but I gotta agree here. :D It's kind of a silly question because there is not enough information to make that decision. Who else fell to us? If Bargnani fell that far then the draft landscape has changed drastically from what we though. I actually like Bargnani and Sheldon Williams as backup picks to one of either Roy, Brewer or possibly Gay due to the need for backcourt help.

    Do we pick Bargnani???? Maybe.

Well, on the one hand, Bargnani might be a bit more comfortable here, seeing as how the Rox have good experience with high-profile non-American talent.. might be a better fit for him than some place like, say, Utah or New Orleans. But it still might be best to trade the pick.

But hopefully now, especially with morey on board, we will have done our homework beforehand for just such an eventuality. A guy like Morey should pay off not only in the areas where he helps find a guy who can help us, but also as important, in the area of identifying guys who other teams may have 'over-valued'. In other words, let's say we scout the guy really well, and Morey's input also confirms: the guy will be a player, and will contribute. Then we have to look at that added value, versus the value placed on him by other teams, and figure out if we are best served by taking him, or trading the pick. Best case would be that they determine he is the 'next Dirk', take him, and we are solid at that spot for years.. OR, we determine that he's the 'next Skita', find out which other team(s) are convinced he's still the 'next Dirk', fleece them, get good value, and the guy never really pans out.

Worst case is we trade him for the 2006 version of Tractor Traylor, and he really IS the 'next Dirk'.

Ideally, we turn a windfall like that into Brewer now, plus a quality player, and a future #1.

Hopefully we are in a position to be able to make the right decisions should a guy like him fall to us.

I'm glad I don't have to make decisions like that and our GMs are actually doing homework so they know what to do if this did come to pass. I guess I'd take him and hope for the best. But, I wouldn't be too upset if Dawson and Morey passed on him -- until, of course, he became the next Dirk.

My bet for the free-faller is Roy, due to concerns about his knees. And, confronted with a choice between Roy and Brewer, I don't know if I'd take the health risk by picking up Roy.

Didn't coach say a 4 with range was an off-season goal? He might not be quite what we'd get immediately from Brewer or Carney but I'd have to take him at 8 if he falls. Then again I wouldn't be upset if we passed on him.

We're gonna get a solid player anyway so I'm not too worried.

    You are kidding, aren't you?

There is no way that Roy falls.

If anybody falls it will be one of Thomas or Bargnani.

I don't see any of them falling.

I think Roy could very easily fall because teams still put a premium on big men. It wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he were there at #8. I don't believe everything that GM's and the media are saying right now. If 2 of these players move into the top 7 like Marcus Williams, Sheldon Williams, Foye, O'Bryant, Redick or Brewer, then Roy could potentially be there.

Just viewing the highlights, which are not the ideal platform to judge of course, he seems to be more like Dirk than Darko or Tshikatsvilli (the guy was buried on the bench behind nachbar, after all...)

I'd be tempted to take him, but then again I don't think he'll fall that far anyway.
