if anyone honestly thinks we can go deep without yao getting 25pt and 10rebounds, then stop kidding yourselves. Yao played 18 min the first three quarters last night and was played the whole 4th and he was tired and exhausted come crunch time.

What to do about his minutes? I think he needs to step it up and suck it up.

    Not to mention those refs.

Also, I think the team will be fine if Yao goes for 20/10. The Rockets are deep and the team offense is about all five guys stepping up and being a threat.

I think he needs to break his ankle again. Seriously. He can't play more than 35 minutes a game, and he has to be in a rhythm. Every time he "sucks it up", something gets broken.

Did you not notice the jump hooks he hit late in the game?

asking a Yao hater to notice that is too much a requirement.

if you play yao too much, he's going to struggle down the stretch.

i think as you've seen, we can play for long stretches without yao. we just hae to manage his minutes well and let him be fresh for the final quarter.

He had to play 18 minutes because of foul trouble, which wasn't his fault... you know whose it is.

Well... overall, I think he did below average. In the very beginning of the game, he missed some point blank shots. (His usual jump hooks, and also missed a dunk & layup back to back) Then he comes in the 4th quarter, he turns the ball over and misses some of his usual shots.

We just need to force feed him the ball the first 3 quarters... get a good lead... then go to him less in the 4th...ofcourse if Tmac were around he would close it out...

really no player can go 4 quarters hard... the most just coast until the 4th...

but im sure come playoff time... he will be given the bigger minutes and come through for us...

that has NEVER worked throughout his career here. i prefer the way adelman is using him now. go to him for 2-3 possessions early and see if he has it. if he doesn't, move the ball around. the balanced scoring indicates that. we're winning with balanced scoring.

but we will need yao to take over when we face the better teams.

Ask his teammates to give him the ball, aside from the two missed dunks and the flopping, No one was stopping Yao on the Blazers.

    Yao only stops himself.

He turns the ball over at least one per 4th quarter in a close game.
He misses at least two of his normal shot (hook shot, turn around) per 4th quarter in a close game.

I'm going to say it's all in his head. In order for him to be THE leader, he needs to stop making mistakes in the 4th quarter.

i say option #2 when the rox can't get the ball to yao is run the pick n roll with brooks and scola. it won't be as deadly as it was with rafer-scola, but i'm sure it'll be a decent 2nd option. with brooks' quickness and shooting ability, defenses have to hedge the screens leaving scola open for the pick n pop. brooks just has to learn to pass the ball quickly right after the hedge, sometimes blindly. he and scola have to develop a chemistry like rafer did.

lol. now that your boy mcgrady is gone, all there is left to do for you is to start harsh thread on yao ming now.

if yao fails, you'd be the happiest one on earth. admit it, you're not a rockets fan.

In the playoffs he plays 40 minutes a game on average. It's balls out in the playoffs. Also realize during the POs you don't play every day. You have days offs so no b2bs and also more tv timeouts.

and from another one of your threads:
Im seeing a trend here.. seriously have a little faith. I dont know what people expect of Yao. Hes 7 freaking 6. There has never been a guy this big with good conditioning. Its not like he can just not be tired, cause if he could im sure we would have seen it by now. Hes big, hes slow, but hes a helluva player. Now stop making lame threads.

Yao is absolutely good and the key problem is how to use him

We should trade for a....... waiitt.... dammit.

Maybe Deke gets a deserved 15 minutes in the playoffs? Doubtful, but possible. I shudder to think of Hayes or Cook playing C against the Jazz, Nuggets, or Lakers.
