Any able-bodied individual should be able to make a basket in an NBA game, but only because defenses will slack likely slack off of you and dare you to shoot.

I voted neither or none of the above cause I doubt I could do anything positive in one of the three professional sports.

I guess I could shoot a technical free throw.

Any able-body individual should be able to catch a screen pass.

Not if they know they can jack the ball from you. These are NBA athletes. We are us.

i'm just saying, there are bound to be times when they leave joe blow wide open in favor of double teaming a star, or even dare him to take a shot because of lack of credentials. but if we're talking constant man-to-man defense, you're right. no way does the average guy get the ball.

I totally forgot there was a show called Pros vs. Joes about this subject.

Someone here may be able to make a basket, but whoever goes out for a pass is going to get lite brited by a NFL quality DB. The ball is going to pop out. Call me a non believer.

I could do none of the above because I would never be signed by the MLB, NBA or the NFL.

I think the worry of the hit will prevent most people from catching a pass. Remember the rule for a completed catch isn't that it is in your hands but that you can secure it. Getting your hands the ball is easy. Tucking it away is not.

For me personally I think given a 48 minute NBA game I would have a chance of hitting a wide open shot. Its not that I have great skill but 5'-7" me would be ignored defensively and would be sitting wide open at the 3 point line most of the time. In the NFL though one hit would likely put me out of the whole game even trying to leave the line the initial bump from the DB might put me out.

Yeah, but what happens when that linebacker takes your head off as soon as you catch it?

If Steve Novak can sit there on the 3 point line and nail a wide open 3, why can't I?

This is of course if only I was somehow signed to a day contract by an NBA team and put in at the last minute.

You gotta run backwards and out of bounds as fast as you can. You'll accomplish the task and survive but look like a vagina :p

All I gotta say is there will be no positive yardage. Any attempt will result in a fumble and a stretcher.

Since I can't start a new thread yet pardon me for taking this onto this thread unless someone is willing to help a poor rookie out and start a new one.

How many of you have ever competed against elite (Pros, Olympic) athletes?

In Judo I've sparred with people who went on to the Olympics and uniformly gotten my ass handed to me. I've also sparred with someone who fought in the UFC, got ass handed to me also, but I used to train with someone who was on the Ultimate Fighter reality show and was able to beat him in practice. Of course this was when he was just starting out and in his teens. He would hand me my ass rather fast these days.

    lalala

he's got to get through my pulling guard first.
he ain't going to get to me as fast as the ball.
my QB ain't throwing to me if I don't have blockers.

besides, if that don't work, I'll catch a shuffle pass and place a knee down. so there.

I guarantee you I will catch an NFL pass way before you make an NBA FG.
