I was overall surprise by our draft selection last thursday night. We drafted a young pf in the vein of nene hilario. To mcuh of my surprise they didnt draft a shooter. So this only leads me to believe that thats probably what were going after in FA or in a sign and trade deal. We might go for Robert Horry,and that isnt a bad idea. Championiship experience is what we need more of ,heck even big game experience would suffice. Something truly lacking is from our young club is composure in tight games. Albeit Horry may not have the same shot he had back when he played for us but he shows up for big games.(well he has in the past for us.) Here's some players I think would be cool to get.. Morris Peterson/sf Ron Mercer/sg-sf <he's good jump shooter.something we need if were going to use Yao alotthis year.> Hidayet Turkoglu/Sf<brings less athleticism to the table but makes up for it in shooting. Or we could bite lip and hold to see Nachbar develop. Doug Christie/Sg < plays defense something lacking our guard spots.and has a nice little j.> Bob Sura/SG ( GS needs to make room at the sg spot, i think we could get him without breaking the bank. Played a bit inspired last year.> Darell Armstrong/pg < with orlando selecting a combo guard in the draft , I think he'll be tradeable. He's better at pg than any player we got right now> Michael Redd/sg < great shooter ever since college, he's deadly around the arc. Mike Miller/sf < I dont know if Jerry West would let him go without us giving an arm and some draft picks, and a frontcourt player.> Eddy Curry/PF-C < Isnt developing as quickly as tyson Chandler but he could.> Anyways, those are a few ide like to have on the rocks but i still hold true to holding on to the players we got until we know they wont fit our system for this year. Meaning wait till after summer.
It would be great to get Hedo or Redd but they will most likely be way to costly but the reason we did not draft a shooter is because at pick #44 there's really nothing to lose and a guy with great potential fell to us. There was a large chance the "shooter" we might have drafted would be cut anyways where as this guy can be stowed away in Europe for a few seasons. Also, shooters are all too common and can come very cheep.
