Here are two trades that I feel could have gone down if our management would have been inventive enough... Houston trades: Juwan Howard Houston receives: Eric Snow and Samuel Dalembert Then we would need another power forward... Houston trades: Trade Exemption Houston receives: Erick Dampier Dampier would have been an awesome pickup for us as I feel that we need a really strong rebounding power forward next to Yao that is capable of playing some really good defense. Last year he averaged 12.3 ppg, 12 rpg and 2 bpg. Eric Snow is exactly what we are looking for from a point: a veteran point guard that can dish out some assists without making too many TOs. Also, Dalembert would have been the perfect center behind Yao. He averaged right around 8 ppg, 8rpg, and 2 bpg. Can you guys imagine this lineup? PG- Snow/Lue/Gaines SG- JJ/Pike SF- TMac/Nachbar PF- Dampier/Taylor C- Yao/Dalembert I don't really see any sort of glaring weakness on our team at all, as long as Pike plays the way we expected him to play when we signed I think our team could have been top 3-4!!! While I'm not really mad that our management is not out there making any trades, I was thrilled that Houston got TMac, I think they need to still be out there going after good players that they know can make an immediate impact on this team.
No way the sixers would throw in dalembert for howard. He's an important part of their future, and one of their only bright spots last year. Secondly, the TE is not big enough to get Dampier, because he wants a salary starting at 9M. Next, theres no way i want Dampier guarding the elite power forwards of the west.
From Real GM: Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) Houston receives: PG Eric Snow (10.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 6.9 apg in 36.2 minutes) C Samuel Dalembert (8.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 26.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +1.3 ppg, +4.0 rpg, and +5.2 apg. Philadelphia trades: PG Eric Snow (10.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 6.9 apg in 36.2 minutes) C Samuel Dalembert (8.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 26.8 minutes) Philadelphia receives: PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 81 games) Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, -4.0 rpg, and -5.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED
Im not so sure that Dampier is worth the 9 million he is getting then. Considering that he has only had one excellent year so far I think he should only be worth about 7 until he can actually prove his worth.
1) Philly wasn't going to trade Dalembert to rid themselves of Snow's contract. They are trying to GET size, not take it away. 2) Golden State doesnt need the TE because Dampier is a FA. They get his cap room by not resigning him. So this has NOTHING to do with OUR management. Those teams were not going to give up those players for what we were offering. End of story.
You're looking at this just from a Rockets perspective. I would have loved for the Rockets to take Dalembert even if it meant taking Snow, but Philly wouldn't touch that. The only way Philly touches or thinks about that deal is if we send the TE there way for Snow & Dalembert. Philly would be better served to take the money instead of another contract. But Philly thinks that Dalembert is a special kid so they won't move him. Also, while Dampier would be a nice fit in Houston it would not be as a PF. The Rockets would try to use him as a backup Center, but he's not going to want to settle for 20 MPG if that. Dampier is commanding 9 MIL per season because, as sad as it is, he is a starting center in the NBA. If Ostertag didn't want to come here because of playing time I doubt Dampier would. I wouldn't doubt if Carroll inquired about Dalembert, but I'm sure Philly told him that he's pretty much untouchable.
im tired of all these gay ass what could have been posts with all these trade offers that make sense for the rox... stop and think if it even remotely makes sense for the other team before you get all pissed at CD for not 'making this happen' why would philly trade dalembert a key piece they want to build around for juwan, just some pf that we deem unworthy to play for us? just be patient and let the GMs to their jobs 1
Philly would only consider that if we agreed to take Buckner and give them a future first rounder. (I would have done it) But I don't think they would have considered it that seriously. They really think highly of Dalembert, and if they were to go into rebuild mode they wouldn't have traded their best young player.
That's a lot of contracts to pick-up, not to mention some how getting GS to agreed to help us get Dampier....FOR NOTHING. "Thank Sir, may I have another". I'm not even going to get into the Snow biz since it's not the kind of old PG the team needed. Did you get a load of that contract? And sure, The 76ers will trade their prospect along with Snow away for JH. If JH is so good that they would do it, then why trade him away?
I am too, I don't see why ever one wants to trade him. I think he could be the PF we been looking for. Howard has never been on a winning team before, other than the short time he played with Dallas. He played pretty good for Dallas too. No telling how good he could be playing with Yao. If the Rockets are going to trade a PF, then it should be Mo Taylor or Spoon, not Howard.
While we are at the subject of the stupid trade ideas, why don't we go all the way. Trade Lue with Jason Kdd. Trade JJ with KG. Trade Howard with Duncan. Then we can have a line up of Kidd TMac KG Garnet Yao Can we say ten-peat? Is that even a word?
