I really felt this past Rockets team had the potential already to win a championship despite the first round loss to Portland. Morey never gave this team a chance.... More than anything they needed a coach that would make harden play defense and the team overall to play better defense... I mean you look at it: Pat, Lin - PGs Harden - SG Parsons - SF T Jones - PF Howard, Asik- C That was a stacked squad. I always felt there should have been a more rounded rotation, Lin should have played more PnR with D12 who can finish, and Asik more with Harden to protect the rim.. That team was never given a chance to grow and mature......
.9 second Rockets vs Spurs Rockets vs Thunder Rockets vs Heat OFFSEASON Rockets retain their key players Rockets vs Grizzlies Rockets vs Thunder Rockets vs Spurs Rockets vs Cavaliers Back to back champs! You're right, we could have been CLUTCH CITY once again.
Growing up, when I said if this or if that, my dad would say, "Yeah, and if your Aunt Lucy had nuts, she'd be your uncle." Accept what is, and move on.
I'm sorry man, an inferior Blazers team with a two man bench of Steve Blake and Terrance Robinson beat us in six. Something had to change.
Think you are forgetting someone. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vesPBAt7azo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Portland finished the season with the same win/lose record. We lost the series because Mchale had Jones guarding Aldridge for 2 games. Take your revisionist history and shove it up your low bball iq ass.
you know... i was just watching that. That was a really weird play. Dwight was right there for the rebound, but Lin got it. So... that was weird. But what was really weird was that Lin starts streaking to the other end of the court... and all of the rockets just stand there. I don't get it. I watched it like five times. They literally all stood there watching Lin. If anyone starts running down the court, thats a fast break. Am I totally crazy? I mean, had they been specifically instructed to get the ball and stop and take a timeout?
and I just rewatched it again! Now, I notice that after Lin has the ball stripped... I think its Mathews, misses the shot. Lin and Dwight hustle and try to get the rebound again. And WTF. Everyone else on the Rockets once again kind of stand there looking at them. Which is what allows the Blazers to pass the ball a couple times n let Mo williams take that final shot. I've always cringed so hard at Lin losing the ball... I'm just now noticing the complete absence of player effort/movement/awareness by all of the other rockets. By which I mean Harden.
Sure, retaining last season's core would have made that team better. They would've developed for next season. However: 1. Rockets would've been better, but I doubt they could win a championship. If core was retained for 3 years, Rockets could reach Conference Finals. That's about it, IMO. Rockets are in the super tough Western Conference. 2. Even if you think last season's roster could win a championship, but opportunity to make the team better arises, you should grab that opportunity. 3. It's not like the FO wants to break up the team. Parsons would still be a Rocket if dinosaur man did not screw the Rockets up. Asik asked to be traded way before off season. Lin, well...
I wonder if how many trades were rejected because morey didn't include parsons. Damn should have pulled them off in hindsight. Possibly could have had love or rondo. Damnit
If McHale learnt from game one after LMA lit us up and actually made some defensive adjustments then I think we would have had a much better chance at winning the series.
eh, went from first round knockout to a fringe playoff team. not a huge dropoff. but you asy championship? is it safe to say that you saw the playoffs in a paralell universe then?
McHale was just dinosaur slow in making adjustments. Still doesn't know what hit him. Popovich would have skewered him alive in the next round.
