There are many conspiracy theories out there some are pure nonsense, others demand answers to serious questions. Along those lines what is the general opinion on paranormal phenomenon such as: (ESP, Life after Death, Ghosts, etc.) conspiracy theories (New world order, JFK, Secret Gov.) mysteries of mankind (Pyramids, Ancient civilizations/ structures, ancient technologies, evolution, etc.) and strange places/weather phenomenon (Bermuda Triangle, Marfa lights, Ball lightening, etc.). What are some of your favorites both to support and to deride? Please add any you feel are interesting, and worth discussing, this of course is not limited to what I’ve posted. Here are a few of literally hundreds of topics to generate some discussion: ESP/Telekinesis/ Remote Viewing/ Telepathy UFO presence Secret Government Agencies Biblical and Religious mysteries Secret Aircraft Secret Organizations Cattle Mutilations The Moon Landings Area 51/Dreamland Space Anomalies Strange/ unidentified Creatures Secret Weaponry A few links: http://paranormal.about.com/ http://www.science-frontiers.com/sfonline.htm http://ufos.about.com/ KC
I don't believe in most of these theories, or believe there is a rational explanation for them. Others I'm somewhere in the middle. There are none that I firmly believe were conspiracies.
I do believe that there was a fairly advanced civilization in antiquity that was destroyed by some cataclysm (flood, probably due to global warming/end of last ice age). I think this is where Atlantis myth comes from, and it would explain alot, like the pyramids and how Sumerian civilization just popped up out of nowhere. It's not really a conspiracy theory, just a controversial one, and it's about the only one I buy into that would apply to this thread.
Pyramids across the entire globe in a pretty short span of human history, is a pretty weird coincidence i've always wondered about that and the Nasca lines in Peru. I think all great stories no matter how distorted over time have some truth to them (ie) Noah's Ark obviously didn't carry two of each species and all that, but I think it was created and the story evolved over time. I think eventually they will find some trace of Atlantis, just like they will find a trace of Noah's Ark on Mt. Ararat.
The US always has some sort of secret weapons and airplanes, I think that goes without saying. What are they is the real question.
I believe Oswald had nothing to do with JFK's murder and that the "headshot" came from the picket fence, not the 6th floor. I also believe that our government is experimenting with weather control (among other things) in the sky above us almost every day. Go to any search engine and type in "chemtrails" and so will you.
The Congressional review of the Warren Commission's findings in the 70's ultimately concluded that it was more likely than not that there was a conspiracy to kill the president. That Oswald was not acting alone, if he acted at all. I think there's more to this story...I don't know that I believe the government/CIA had him killed the way Oliver Stone would have you believe...but I think there's more to it than we know. As for ghosts and the spiritual realm...absolutely I believe it. I've also read and heard some VERY credible reports of near-death experiences...not the typical Oprah show...or James Vaan Pragh (or whatever the guy's name is)...from toddlers who don't know enough to make it up...from doctors who approached their own experiences with a skeptical eye... interesting stuff
Concerning UFO’s I think some of the most interesting images come from ancient (hieroglyphs) and medieval artwork particularly art dealing with religious subjects.
More medieval artwork depicting flying objects this time with pilots. I wonder what the artist was trying to convey to people looking at the work...I chopped up the picture to save space, notice the helmet on the "pilot" in the 1st and 2nd image. The bottom image is placed such that it appears to be chasing the man in the helmet in the full painting. This was painted hundreds of years ago-- bizarre.
Positive no manipulation...interesting aren't they? Most are hanging in museums around the world they are all famous works. edit- the only changes are the close-up boxes showing the disks in higher detail.
Has anyone ever seen chemtrails in the sky? I had heard about them on Art Bell and then saw pics of them online. Then when I was walking to campus one day I saw a plane leaving chemtrails in the sky. They stay up there all day and slowly expand, completely different from conn-trails.
Animal mutilations seem easy to write off until you look at the numbers involved, the similarities, the worldwide distribution, and the organizations such as the FBI that have been investigating the problem for 30 years without any results or conclusions. I wish someone could disprove this one it is more than a little disturbing. http://foia.fbi.gov/ufoanim.htm
Last night on the History Channel the program about the pyramids was re run and they were talking about an ancient civilization such as the one Treeman posted about may have been responsible. As far as why they look the same in different parts of the world I think its because there was no other way to build a structure that large. The heavier (bigger) part at the base followed by smaller pieces as you move up.
My favorite is Point Pleasant, West Virginia and the Ohio River Valley in 1966-1967. Hundreds of UFO sightings, mothman sightings, strange visitors showing up at your doorstep asking weird questions, men in black, etc. It's pretty much got everything you'd want. And then all of a sudden, the reports cease when the the Silver Bridge leading into Point Pleasant collapses and kills 46 people. Whether any of the reports of "sightings" were true, who's to say, but it caused such a stir I don't see how it could not have been either a conspiracy or an actual paranormal phenomenon .
I've been hearing alot about chemtrails lately, but this is one I don't agree with...but i'm not sure I have never viewed one that is noticeable different from a normal contrail. EXCEPT: One evening before sunset I noticed a strange formation in the sky, it was puffs of white smoke followed by a thin line leading to another puff of smoke and so on it eventually went over the horizon. It was about the same size as a normal contrail, but appeared to be much higher in the sky. When I looked it up later there was only one culprit that fit the description: A pulse detonation wave engine from the Aurora spyplane. What I saw was more defined than this with more space between puffs and thin line, its called a "donuts on a rope" contrail...yes this is a true story.
Have you ever had a look at this cold war gem...A Nuclear Cannon, I think this could be considered a "pork-barrel project".
