Well, my phone got "cloned" by somebody in Guatemala. (Apparently they stole my number and were running up huge charges.) So now I need a new phone. I have Verizon but I want to switch because 1)they don't offer roaming and 2) they are more expensive than other plans. Questions: What cell plan is the best? Is digital really that much better? Cingular and AT&T are $10 bucks cheaper and offer roaming but no digital-should I switch?
I'm extremely happy with Sprint; my roommate & I share a PCS plan: 2 phone numbers, 800 minutes, unlimited nights & weekends, free long distance, free PCS to PCS calling - $75ish.
I've got the same plan as Baqui...I just need a new cellphone! The one I have I bought 3 years ago, and it's on its last legs.
First of all, look into GSM. That way if you like your phone, you can switch services from Cingular to ATT Wireless without switching phones. Interestingly enough, I have been looking up plans for no apparent reason today. ATT Wireless is slightly cheaper than Cingular. I have Cingular, and the plan really looks good and cheap, but after activation, then tax, then insurance, it's really not that great. When they first switched from Bell South Mobility/whatever other Bell to Cingular, their plans were unreal. They were dirt cheap. Now with competition, they suck. I have to get the 400/month instead of the 300/month just becuase I wanted the voicemail, but it also comes with Rollover, which I don't need. So I'm, paying $10 more per month. Uuugh. Well, ATT Wireless is probably a little better. It should all come down to which service (Cingular, ATT Wireless, Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile) has the most towers set up and which offers the best regional/national coverage area. In a more populated area it won't really matter that much. Digital is gradually becoming standard. Go ahead and spend $150 on the Nokia 3650; then post the pics here.
I thought ATT doesn't give out unlock codes? You'll most likely have to pay someone $20-25 to unlock your ATT phone to use it on any other service.
T-Mobile 39.99 a month for 600 daytime minutes. Until 9 pm. Unlimited nights and weekends. Weekend starts at 9:00 pm Friday, lasts until 6:59 am Monday morning. Nationwide service included, no roaming charges. For T-Mobile Nationwide means anywhere the US has control including Hawaii and Alaska, not just the lower 48. After dealing with ATT customer service and getting nowhere for 2 years, I switched to T-Mobile. Their customer service is a dream. Bought my phone on Amazon.com for 299.99 got a 250.00 rebate from Amazon. Got a 50.00 rebate from T0Mobile for setting up the new service. Translation Amazon paid me a penny to receive a 300.00 phone and set up service with T-Mobile. Phone even works in the boonies (like where Chance lives.) I'm SUPER happy.
I can get the Nokia 3650 for $80 with $50 rebate if I get a 2 year contract with Cingular. And Sprint looked good, seems like lots of people like it, but the phones are very expensive. Unfortunately with TMobile I need to pay at leas $35 per month to get voicemail
Cingular 2 year contract 900 daytime 5000 nights/weekends for only $69.99 a month plus rollover minutes
Lil Pun, how is the sound quality? Is it pretty good? Are you happy with the service overall? I'm leaning to Cingular right now.
I have Sprint PCS, as well. 500 minutes, unlimited night (9pm), weekend and PCS to PCS minutes for $45/mo. plus taxes.
Dang you guys pay a lot, I want to pay no morethan $30 if possible. I only use it for short conversations, I have my work phone for long conversations.
Which is amazing because most people knock it pretty bad, one of the main reasons I never tried it. I had bad reception problems Verizon and T-Mobile in my home in Sugar Land and in my dorm in College Station. I switched to Cingular at the beginning of the year, and it's worked great for me. I get good reception, and I can't think of any calls that I've dropped recently.
The sound is great...if you get the right phone. I have a Nokia 3360 and its design isn't very good in my opion. Cingular usually knocks off a good chunk of the price of the phone as well when you sign up for a contract (Yoy get more off if you sign a two year). I got my Nokia 3360 when they were relatively new and only paid $50 after my rebate and it still was only $100. Cingular is good.
I just called the other day to tell Sprint I wont be continuing with them.... I have problems with reception on campus in Nashville and near my home... I told them part of the reason is I can't get good reception near my home and the response was that since I have a home phone, I don't need a cellular in my home. Needless to say I didn't like that asnwer and told them I wanted to quit once my contract is up this month. I'm leaning towards cingular right now. .. and best buy has the motorla v60t free. any comments regarding that?
