I'm in the market for a new car. However, I'm unclear on what car I want to get. I want at least some decent MPG and I'm primarily looking at four door sedans or SUVs(which may not be practical because of MPG and gas prices). Anyway, I'm not buying a Ford so don't go there. Cars I'm actively going to be looking at and test driving: 1.) Toyota Camry Sport '07 model V-6 automatic 2.) Toyota RAV4 V-6 automatic - '07 model will be identical to '06 model 3.) Honda Accord V-6 I would love to hear some of your opinions on cars you may own or desire in that price range which have some decent power but also get at least decent MPG. I do like good acceleration, to drive fast, a smooth ride, and good handling. So, what would your ideal car be in that price range?
I'd get a base BMW 3 with 30K.. After tax you're going to be over 30K, but you didnt say with TAX http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/3/2006325isedan/default But out of those you listed I'd get the Accord maybe even a hybrid..
i just got a brand new '06 4runner for just a smidge over 30K. loving it so far, except for the no sun-roof (which i was told it was coming with... ) you could also get a used '04-'05 VW Toureag for right at that amount. i actually found an '04 w/ 11k miles for $29,500 last week, but we'd all but finalized the deal for the 4runner by then..... that'll probably be my next purchase though.
Is there a particular reason you guys would pick an Accord over a Camry? I think the Camry has been the car at the top of the list in this category for several years. I guess their running neck-and-neck nowadays. Just wondering.
How old are you?? I think Camrys are for older guys and they look you are a family man now.. IMO the Accords still have a little edge to them...
I agree with getting a pre-owned Lexus if possible. Otherwise, a great deal is the C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan by Mercedes Benz. It has a 4-yr /50K mile warranty with free service and maintenance, unlike Toyota or Honda and a Benz will hold its value better. They are priced right under 30K, or you can buy a slightly used one for less. A certified pre-owned car a year old would add a year and 10K miles to the warranty as well. The oil changes/service adds up. And you're driving a better looking car that gets damn good gas mileage.
That's what I was gonna say. The Accord and Camry Hybrids both run from 25k to 30k. The first car I buy is gonna be a hybrid.
If I were younger (in my twenties), I'd have to seriously look at the new Toyota FJ cruiser. That thing looks like so much fun.
If you can get a V6 Accord hybrid for 30K, snag it! O to 60 in about 6 seconds, great ride, good sound system with satellite radio, leather seats, and it gets 34 on the highway, and 25 in the city. The V6 is the same engine that's in the new Odyssey. A 255HP plant that idles half the 6 cylinders when going downhill, or cruising on level roads. I've got an Odyssey that gets 24 MPH on the highway with the same engine, and it weighs about 4400 lbs. The Accord weighs considerably less... thus the tremendous acceleration. And they run on regular! I agree on the pre-owned Lexus. Amazing cars. With gas getting as expensive as it is, my main beef is that they run on premium (yes, I know... if you can afford one, you shouldn't have to worry about the mileage. A one or two year old 330, with their outstanding warranty, is not that damned expensive! I remember filling up with 25 cents per gallon gas during the gas wars, back in the day. I have a problem with filling up on regular at $2.50 a gallon. It messes with my mind, and it's only going to go up, long-term )
I'd go with the Honda or Toyota hybrid as well. And, contrary to what someone said earlier, with the new Camry design (07 model), I think the Camry looks much edgier than the Honda.
