Today at halftime of the Phi/Mil game, Webber made an appearance with Bob Costas. I did not conclude too much from the interview of where he may go.

Webber left all the doors open for himself, but he did say that he would try to make his decision around draft time.
Webber spoke highly about Washington and Jordan, but doubted if they could really win a Championship.

Webber also mentioned Orl,Indy,NY,LA and Det, but when Costas asked about Houston, you can really see a definte smile on his face like something was going on, and then he went on to say Houston is a definte possablity, due to the similarities of Jason Williams and Steve Francis(Wink is much better). A better comparision should have been Cat and JW.

The strongest responses to the interview were towards the Wizards only due to Jordan, who Webber really looks up to and towards Houston. You can see that Steve and Cat are working the man over the phone.

What else can you all recall/infer from the interview?

I liked his resolve to make a decision BEFORE the draft. That is very good news to me.

I thought he just said that hopefully by the time of the draft, he will have some idea of where he wants to go?

Man, you can tell how slow news is when 3 separate threads are made about one interview with Webber...

Please, draft, get here soon! [IMG]

Those were definitely canned responses. He said a whole bunch of nothing. He even said he would consider going to Detroit. Does he think he can win a championship there?

I guess a better question for him would have been is there any place that you won't go?

    RR,

I think he said he didnt want to string teams along, but wanted to make a decision before the draft.

I'm just happy they're doing Bob Costas interviews instead of those wretched halftime shows.

I feel my situation could involve specific teams and probably result in definite movement which may or may not affect my tenure with the Kings...However, I wouldn't rule anything out at this time.

I don't know about all this, but I did decipher a few things. He isn't going to Detroit. He's not going back to Sacramento. He's considering NY but you noticed he never mentioned them? Stern was already on them about tampering that's why. Orlando is a possibility, I think they may have contacted him already. Houston is a slim possibility, I don't think they have contacted him directly. There is no chance of him going to LA, and I don't see another team he can go to that is a title contender other then Washington with MJ, Charles, Patrick or Hakeem going there and possibly David Robinson. I also feel that he isn't giving up his bird rights unless he signs with Washington because he knows Michael will take care of him. Indiana I think is the sleeper team.

Can Webber really choose a team before the draft? I mean, teams can't talk to him until July 1, right? What if he decides to go to a team that has no cap space and must pull off a sign and trade with the Kings? There is no guarantee the teams will be able to reach an agreement. There is no way he can decide where he is going before the draft unless it is Sac or Houston.

From his mannerisms I don't think he has Houston high on his list. I think he wants to go elsewhere.

I would not be surprised to see him, Jordan, Barkley and Hakeem, all in Washington next year.

I don't see him going to Washington b/c he said he wants to be on a team that could win for many years. A Jordan/Barkley team won't last for more than a season or two.

...and probably won't be very good for that season or two.

Houston definitely does not appear to be high on his list.

He did say that he would like to play with guys who he is familiar with, guys who he know are going to show up every night and not be afraid. That seems to give Spree in NY and Jalen in Indiana an edge.

All he said about Houston was that aftering playing with Jason, he would like to play with another guard like that, "so I think that (playing in Houston) could be a possibility."

I really hope that CD and Rudy are moving forward with other plans.

the teams he talks less about are the one that stand out

if his dad wants him in SAC its a possibility hes going there
and damn does he have a nice house or back yard from what we saw

he cant go to NY cuz whats Ny gonna give Sac in a sign in trade?
    Camby? luck longley knight
those guyz have huge contracts and are no use

Houston..Detroit and Sacramneto are the teams hes gonna go to
    watch and see
