I'm basing this on the fact that we are not going to win the championship this year or any other year with this group. As a result, I'm wondering what we could reasonably obtain from NY, Milwaukee, Chicago, Sacramento, etc....

Here is the amount of seriousness I'm going to award your thread:

    We can get:
    Isiah Thomas from New York
    Fancy Wisconsin Cheese from Milwaukee
Those special hot dogs from Chicago
Hot blond gold-digging hoes from Sacramento

I vote for the hot hoes from Cali.

I will intentionally misinterpret your question since all any of us can really do is speculate on what we could get in return for any, or all, of these players.

Q: What can we get for McGrady?
    A: A new back.

Q: What can we get for Head?
    A: A brain.

Q: What can we get for Rafer?
A: A new zip code. Apparently, he won't accept a new jump shot. He seems to think his current one is working.

Q: What can we get for Chuck?
A: A pad for his seat at the end of the bench. He will be a utility player for the rest of his career.

based on last night's game, tmac is not a superstar player anymore. he's a very very good all-star b/c his playmaking is still good. he's still the best player on this series. utah's defense on him was unexpected b/c sloan went out of his way to double him more than usual. but he's not the old tmac where he can score at will.

b/c of that, we must make him more of a playmaker next yr b/c that is now his strength. he's no longer a superior scorer. he will be the clear-cut 2nd option to yao next yr (though yao hasn't proven to me he's a great first option either, but he will be forced into that role).

we can't trade tmac. his value is too low considering his salary, age, and history of injuries. we have to understand where he's at in his career and use him well. he's still a dominant player if used right in this system. hopefully this offseason, he will practice his jumpshot and improve the fundamentals b/c his athletic ability is declining. i still want tmac on this team, but not as the best player.

as i post this, kobe bryant is 1-9 against a pathetic defensive team and settling for jump shots, go figure, guess laker fans want to trade kobe too.

Wow, all the hate is great. All I'm proposing is moving players to get closer to a championship. All u dudes want to do is win a series, one seriers, against Utah.

Teams that think this way, continually role out the same squad year after year and still get boucned from the play offs. Our team is broke and let's fix it.

We're the American Airlines waiting to happen. So wake up from the sleep walk tour you're on and get with trading some of these dudes to improve.

dude we missed our starting center (probably the best center in the L), we missed our starting PG, battier, tmac, and landry all have not healed fully from their injuries (and you see that affecting tmac and landry)... and we got the lead against a healthy and disciplined utah team.

if healthy, we are a championship contender. if we improve our PG play some more, i have zero doubt we're going to win.

take duncan out and see what spurs fans have to say. remember when dirk went out and saw what happened?

we went 19-8 without yao. to do that well without a big piece of your team shows how good you already are. now we just need to stay healthy (that's the main problem)

T-Mac played well and within the context of the game and what the defense gave us. He passed the ball off and distributed. He can't help if he's doubled and his teammates sucked it up the whole night.

This is a good post. Little bit of criticism, little bit of truth, little bit of support.

Kobe can suck tonight and they will still win. Why? His teammates are stepping up. Kobe is the focus of the entire Nuggets defense, which is abysmal, and he's letting himself be taken out of the game. His teammates are playing so well in his shadow that they are winning this game. T-Mac was the focus of a terrific defense in Utah and his teammates couldn't push far enough for the win.

    It is what it is.

After re-watching the second half of that game I don't believe Kobe or Lebron could have done much better (if at all) than Tmac did. The double team came hard and it came pretty fast. He passed the ball to the open guy. Everyone not named Battier missed the jumpers. Gave over.

Maybe this team needs to mortgage the farm (if they can) for a shooter who isn't such a liability on defense that if he isn't nailing a 3 a minute the Rockets lose. We all know who I am talking about.

that's why i think we need to make tmac our playmaker next yr. he's clearly one of the top 5 playmakers in the game. we should not rely on tmac to be a superior scorer. forget trying to get a PG, just try to get SHOOTERS. with tmac, we don't need a damn PG.

we shouldn't play novak. korver just amps up when novak comes into the game for some apparent reason and goes off.

Sometimes i wish there was a zero star thread rating option.

The reality is, we can still win this series; i don't need to give any analysis to prove this. If you're a Rockets fan, you know its true.

Maybe you're on to something. Tmac still gets to the rim better than 90% of the players in the league. I also believe his the BEST "drive and kick out" guy in the league. He's nearly flawless when he gets into the paint and needs to find the best option out on the perimeter. If we have two pure shooters on the court (who don't get raped defensively) then you either have McGrady finishing at the rim or you have 3s raining on you. McGrady is certainly a diminished player but he still eats single coverage defense up.

I remember Luther winning games for this team last season because of all the open looks he got from Tmac's penetration. We didn't have that this season because Luther lost his jumper on his summer vacation last year. Luther is a horrible play maker, ball handler, decision maker and not much of a defender but this team was better with him on the court in 4th quarters last season. So if a pretty much one-dimensional 'tweener guard feasted off Tmac's passing ability imagine what some real shooters could do.

    It's food for thought.

We already have shooters. Battier, Head, and Rafer (at times) are capable shooters behind the arc. The problem is we need players who can also attack the basket.

Btw, we've been trying to get shooters ever since we traded for T-Mac. If it was so easy to get "shooters" then we wouldnt be in this situation.

Gasol's line from game 1 of the playoffs:

    36 PTS (14/20 FG, 8/8 FT)
    16 REB
    8 AST
    3 BLK

I think it's safe to say that LA is not giving him up for a player that plays the same position as Kobe.
