Is there a player out there like Ron Artest thats nice but needs a change of scenery? How about another young player that hasn't quite panned out for their team. Does Eddie have any trade value now?
I wish we could get anything decent for Eggie (and can you imagine that we could have had Shareef for Eggie and Rice and maybe a pick) but his trade value will depend on how this all shakes out (boy, am I smart). Is he being driven to distraction by a golddigging, baby-hiding harpy? If he is, will he be able to resolve it and shake this off and return to "form"? If he can, when? And do we extend him in the meantime?
With everything surrounding Eddie, you'd be lucky to get a half-eaten jelly doughnut for Eddie Griffin and a future pick.
If he didn't hit the girl maybe it can all be worked out. If he did, I wouldn't hire him to cut my lawn.
Wow...yeah...and some people were rejecting that proposed trade or rumor. Now it's too late to do anything. People may want Eddie...but not right now.
The only thing that comes to mind right now is we can get him a couple of orange jump suits and a pack of smokes for starters.
I like Ron cause he is a mean SOB so I don't want a nice Artest. I think we could trade Eddie for a cup of coffee at a NA meeting though.
I want to keep him. I think he can recover from the current debacle and he's worth the gamble at this point.
Yeah, I'm definitely on the wait-and-see tip. Everyone who has heard Eddie's side is still in his corner.
I have basically labeled Eddie as untradable in my mind. Teams don't want a kid who has re-occuring personal problems (which he takes out on the team), especially now that he has legal woes to take care of now. Eddie/Rice for SAR was a trade that should have been done, but no point crying over spilt milk. Eddie is untradable right now, hopefully he'll get his stuff together soon.
I'm having déjà vu. I think in the last one of many threads with the same title, my answer was: Probation, if we are lucky.
Paper clips, pocket lint, maybe a Rubick's cube or......nahhh, a Pac-man watch has more trade value than EG. Seriously, his trade value is in the one-for-one for say......the 12th man on any team.
Alright, since you asked... Houston trades: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes) C John Amaechi (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.5 minutes) PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes) Houston receives: PG Jamaal Tinsley (7.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.5 apg in 30.6 minutes) SF Ron Artest (15.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.9 apg in 33.6 minutes) PF Jerome Williams (9.7 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.0 minutes) Change in team outlook: +18.1 ppg, +8.7 rpg, and +7.8 apg. Indiana trades: SG Jamison Brewer (2.2 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 1.8 apg in 8.0 minutes) PG Jamaal Tinsley (7.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.5 apg in 30.6 minutes) PF Primoz Brezec (2.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.2 apg in 5.2 minutes) SF Ron Artest (15.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.9 apg in 33.6 minutes) Indiana receives: PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 82 games) SF Morris Peterson (14.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg in 82 games) Change in team outlook: -9.1 ppg, -4.6 rpg, and -7.7 apg. Toronto trades: PF Jerome Williams (9.7 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.0 minutes) SF Morris Peterson (14.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg in 36.0 minutes) Toronto receives: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 77 games) C John Amaechi (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 50 games) SG Jamison Brewer (2.2 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 1.8 apg in 10 games) PF Primoz Brezec (2.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.2 apg in 21 games) Change in team outlook: -9.0 ppg, -4.1 rpg, and -0.1 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Houston, Indiana, and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Indiana, and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ---------- I like this trade because everyone except us gets screwed. Throw in some money from Toronto and Houston to Indiana and draft picks from Toronto to Indiana and then...why not .

I tend to agree, but mainly because I think he's an untouchable right now. He's like this stock I wrote off a couple of years ago. Nobody would give me a dime for it, but I keep the certificates because the company still exists. Perhaps they'll turn it around, and the stock will come to carry some value again. I bear no risk in keeping the paper. Same thing with Eddie. As long as he behaves himself, he's not much risk to the Rockets. This could even be a turning point for him....all this negative press has to make him feel like he's reached rock bottom. If there's going to be a trial though, I bet the Rockets waive him. He's no Kobe Bryant, and I doubt the Rockets want to put up with that much in the way of distractions for someone who may or may NOT want to play ball again. On the flip side though, not being Kobe Bryant could help him. Even though he makes good money, he probably doesn't have enough in the way of assets to make any civil trial worth NOT settling....especially in light of the fact that any more negative press will make him even less financially attractive. So my opinion is to keep him while the risk to the team is somewhat low......but only because I don't think any other team would assume what risk there is. I think his trade value is less than zero.
