I think everyone here expects Utah to play their best game of the series in game 6. So how can the Rockets improve on what they did in game 5? Nobody had a WOW shooting night, unless you count T-mac shooting 50% in that category. Nothing really stood out, save maybe the 36% FG for the Jazz. Rockets only shot 79% from FT line(but missing 3 more puts that down in the low 60's and doesnt change the outcome) Rockets were 33% from 3 point line. Rafer was 4 of 7, but Battier balanced it out with 0-5. As well as the Rockets played in game 5, there were no real categories that the team played way over their head. Only 4 less turnovers than Utah. The Rockets held the Jazz to 36% from the field, but they didnt miss but maybe 2 or 3 gimmes. Rockets won the rebounding battle, but the teams were pretty even in offensive boards. And before you point to the whistles, Rockets outfouled the Jazz 18-17.
If luther head plays, he really needs to make up for his 2nd straight year of suckyness. also, scola needs to step up like he did in the 2nd half. His first quarter was just horrible..especially in the defensive end where we gave okur 2 straight threes
Battier needs to hit his 3's. I really have to commend Rafer and the Rockets on their perimetre shooting tonight but Battier was our top 3pt shooter in terms of percentage made, and tonight he was like 0 from 5?!!!! Go Rafer!!!!!!
1 thing and 1 thing only Weather the storm, stay close and grab a lead at the half. Unless, you're blind...we have proven that we are the better team and lost 3 games that we could have won if the basketball Gods was just on our side. It will be close....we'll win by 6 and blow them out in Game 7.
Get to the line more, but otherwise it's hard to fault anything every Rockets player not named Luther Head did tonight. Honestly, if they put forth another effort like this one in Game 6, they'll be back home for Game 7 on Sunday. They won't win by 26 in Utah, but it'll be a decisive victory.
Something opposite of last year, the Jazz won their games comfortably until game 7. This year, the Jazz wins went down to the wire(as did the other Rocket win). Last year, it looked like they were the better team as at home they blew us out, and on the road, lost 3 games that they were in until the end.
I was impressed with our offense in Game 5 especially after first 4 games when we were struggling to score. But I think we can get better, especially SHane who was quiet tonight
This series will be won by rebounding and free throws. The offense and defense seem even. It's a matter of who can knock down the freebies, and who can control the number of posessions through the boards. Our big men were both in double digit rebounding. It also helps when Scola is contributing efficiently.
i remember a stretch were we couldn't keep the jazz off the offensive boards... and also t-mac needs to run harder on the fast break and we need to cut harder and move more when t-mac has the ball in the mid post. It would also help if we ran some of the offense and got a few easy layups through motion offense instead of jsut t-mac creating.
for most of the game, we didn't shoot that well. we got an 11 pt lead in the first half on 38% shooting i believe. so we could have played better. tmac missed 4-5 layups tonight. they should have been fouls but he could finish better around the rim still. he MUST get to the line more in game 6 to control the pace. battier was nonexistent offensively but he shot well in utah so i expect him to rebound. landry and bobby only had a great 2nd quarter. with 2 days rest, they will be fresh to play better. again, WE OUTREBOUNDED THEM. that's the main key. we need to keep doing that and dominating that category.
one thing we did really well and that got us a big win was our motion in offense. we were actually playing like we were during those 22 winning streak. we were playing AD offense. we pass the ball around and Tmac drawing the double team and kick it to inside man. second would be our FT, thanks to scola and everyone we are shooting well. It's start a 3 games winning streak!!!
Make shots. Make free throws. Ramp up the defense. Shut up the crowd in Utah. Result, we win and go to game seven.
We believe T-MAC will lead the rockets, until they become the championship!! Hope the miracle happens!!!
I hate the "Weather the storm" mentality...to me it is like a "Let them make a run" mentality. Forget weathering anything.....BRING THE DARNED STORM WITH YOU....come out on fire and take it to em... Put the Jazz on their heels...let them know you are here to play...and contest every possession. Hit your 3s...and win....and come back down to Houston for game 7. DD
In Game 5 Utah came out flat and never recovered. We came out flat but high energy and eventually came out swinging blows to knock them out of the game. Game 6 will be a much different game. Utah will come out strong. They will come out with something to prove and the crowd will be aching for them to put us away. We have to come out doubly hard. Dada is right on this one, if we come out with a weather the storm mentality will lose. We have to come out with swagger and poise, and go for the jugular all night long. Take it to them. Show them that we are going to outmuscle and hustle them for every loose ball. That we are going to play fun and relaxed on offense, not tight and careful. We have to stick to ball movement and being confident... That's key.
how about we stay agressive ALL GAME like we did last night... after we went up by 18 in the second quarter we basically never turned back...we brought the HEAT all mother effin night !!!!! we NEEDED BJax and Scola to have big games and Rafer making (4) threes helped out tremedously...not only did we get 12 points from him, his shooting enabled the Jazz defenders to come out on him leaving us to pass the ball around and eventually take it to the rack... we need the same exact game to win in Utah...
