I wonder if packaging MoT's contract with Padget will bring us a quality player. Padget has shown some heroics lately, including on national TV, so if he will ever have any trade value it is now. We all know that Padget is not really an NBA player, but last time I checked CD was not the only dummmy executive in the league... You think the Knick could bite, after his last second shot? What about MoT + Padget for Mohamed...
I think the fact that he's playing and contributing positively proves that he is an NBA player. To me, he wouldn't be a dealbreaker in any big trade, but I wouldn't be looking to move him. He's this team's Bullard.
HOLD ON! First your telling me he has played well on National TV BUT for some reason he isn't an NBA player? Your not making any sense! Why would he be playing well if he wasn't an NBA player? Why would he even be in the NBA if he wasn't an NBA a player? Why would you even start a topic on such a stupid idea?
"Scott Padgett made a trey to qualify in the career statistics and become the most accurate 3-point shooter in Rockets history. " Does this mean he is the most accurate? Or is just qualifying?
last time i checked CD has made some excellent moves this season and it's hard to call him a dummy with the year he has had. and yes padgett is an NBA player. he has been in the league 6 years now. that's a hell of a lot better than most guys. plus he is a nice guy to have off the bench. and no we will get nothing for him.
Why would you deal Padgett? The guy's won two games for the Rockets in recent weeks and he's red hot from the 3-point line. Plus he's part of the WBPS. You can't break up that group.
But then there was the Charlie Ward signing. Exactly. Padget is a good guy for us as a 3rd or 4th bench guy. He has close to zero value in a trade, but has some value for our team in this situational bench player role--makes no sense to pitch trading him for those reasons.
yes , he is the guy who will give surprise just like keer or horrry. I do like to keep him all the time.
exactly! He is hot. You deal an asset when their value is high. When I say he's not really an NBA player, I mean you can't expect him to contribute meningfully over a longer stretch of games. Anybody can have outbursts of few good games every now and then, remember Moochie won games for us as well. Granted, it may be hard to fool Isah twice, but at least Padget doesn't carry an albatross contract. Padget seems like a nice guy, but make no mistake he's been in the league for that long only because of the AAWS policy...
Which still wasn't a bad signing. It's 2 years guaranteed. No big deal. He was playing well pre-injury...then his playing went in the tank. Don't need to keep bringing up this issue..
what's up with the padgett hate? he has a small contract and has been way more productive then any of us could have expected. right now he's a great fit on the team and probably more valuable then anything we could get for him.
Or you milk a hot player for all they're worth. Padgett's job is to make hustle plays and knock down open jumpers. For the majority of his Rocket career, he's done both. And with T-Mac and Yao demanding so much attention, he's in a perfect situation to prosper. Championship teams need role players as much as they need superstars. The Rockets won titles just as much due to clutch plays from the likes of Mario Elie, Sam Cassell, Carl Herrera, Robert Horry, Kenny Smith, and Vernon Maxwell(hell, even Chucky Brown put up 15 and 8 in Game 5 against Phoenix) as they did because of the greatness of Dream and Clyde. We need to appreciate the fact that we have a solid cast of role players like Sura, Barry, Wesley, Padgett, Howard, and Deke who are content to play their part on the team and aren't obsessed with the spotlight. Yes, we still need to upgrade the roster, but getting rid of someone like Padgett is not the way to do it.
