Hey guys I need help with what opportunities are out there for a UH grad with a BS in kines. I understand unless you opt for PT school or a masters, the job field isn't very bright for my situation. I just wanted to see if anyone was in a similar situation and what they did because I've been working a hourly wage position ever since I graduated 2 years ago, and really desperate for new options. I've applied to alot of sports teams related positions in the past year, but haven't really heard back. I don't mind starting somewhere low, I just wish to make my degree somewhat useful.

I was in the same situation. Working the drive-through at McDonalds isn't too bad; I might even become a cashier soon.

OP, in all seriousness, I'd recommend getting whatever schooling you need to succeed, but I'm sure there are opportunities waiting for you with your current degree. Just gotta keep on trying.

Maybe you could look into getting a teaching certificate and becoming a PE/athletics coach? You'd likely have to sub for a while first, but it's something.

Business is too crowded, 25% of all undergrads, for the number of jobs available. See if you can handle Chemistry and Calculus, then look at either Engineering or Pharmacy. Also consider Construction Management, good number of Plant or Unit Managers were project managers for the initial construction then just stayed on to learn the processes.

You could move to LA, New York or Miami to try to be a trainer. Or master some sport or exercise to the point that you could give lessons.

Also, all large state universities have been building rec and exercise centers for the last twenty years, you should try to get on the staff there.

You could also coach little league or something and just start networking.

I truly hope for your sake that it's just your internet character and you aren't this strange in real life.

Sounds like the age-old problem of breaking into a tough, low-demand field.

Hustle, hustle hustle. Volunteer for local sports teams: pros, college, big high schools. Go to every practice. Talk to the coaches and players. Make friends and tell them what you do (kines). ASK for an unpaid internship just to get your foot in the door. People appreciate motivation & good attitude. If you came to me and showed motivation & knowledge and asked for an unpaid internship after I told you there were no jobs, I would hook you up.

    Don't give up.
