Sorry i know there was a similar thread a while ago but i cant find it so i will travel to Houston this Christmas to watch a game @ toyota center and i will stay in the area for 3 ~ 4 days before returning to NYC can you give me some suggestions to where i should visit that will not cost me an arm and a leg? especially tourist places that i cant find in anywhere else
That's exactly what I did when I went to the LA on Friday. Went back to the airport right after the game and just spent the night there until my flight in the morning. You're wasting your time in Houston.
go to Ninfa's on Navigation for some good Tex Mex. (its east of downtown, any cabbie can get you there) What are you interests?
Houston doesn’t really have many tourist destinations. I have taken visitors to NASA, and most have liked it. I have also taken people to Galveston but with the exception of some Canadian friends of mine, most visitors don’t really like it that much. One of the places that you won’t find in tour guides is Brazos Bend State Park, which is 25 miles southwest of Houston. Everyone I’ve sent there has loved it. You can hike on the trails and see a lot of alligators. I went once and almost stepped on one.
Well, Houston has some pretty kick ass restaurants...good Tex Mex, which you can't get in the North East, as well as good cajun places...most people from the North East that come to visit us for work usually love Pappadeuxs. You can try the museum district. There is some interesting stuff there. NASA might be worth a visit. Like someone said before, Houston is a good place to live, but not very touristy to visit.
If driving everywhere and sitting in traffic is your poison. Enjoy Houston. Dallas, SA and Austin would have more "tourist" attractions.
God, you guys SUCK! No wonder everyone thinks this is the ****tiest city on the planet. Even our own CITIZENS badmouth us. Jeebus.
what makes houston a good city to live in? sure its dirty, polluted, tons of traffic, man rapists.... but its home. dallas sucks.... i can't wait to get back to h-town.
There's plenty of fun stuff to show people here. To tourists that come here, I love taking them to Shanghai Reds. It is an awesome seafood place that borders the ship channel, so it gives people a very unique experience. I also enjoy the San Jacinto Monument, Battleship texas, Kemah, and Mecom fountain, which I casually drive by on my was to show people Reliant. Just take Fannin all the way. There's also the beer can house, although I've never been. And you can let people know that our Galleria was the first of its kind. Transco, and the waterfall there is really cool, too. There's plenty of neat things to see here. Not to mention our women, food, and people. I don't want to live anywhere else, personally.
