I'm just curious what brought you to Clutchcity. I would have to say Mr Oily brought me here with the bandwidth leaching squirrel situation below. Can anyone remember the Clutch version of this linked forum thread? Link
It was so long ago that I cannot even remember. I think I just ran across it typing random addresses in. Lurked for awhile, before signing on.
The Shandon Anderson race brought me here...I wanted information and rumors...and this was the best site for that...
The media marketing of SOR...in addition the mention of Jeff's effort from 610 am radio. All the liberals hated me at first, though I don't know why?...Now, except for 1 or 2 they all love me like a brother and I love them!
back in '97-'98 I was really needing a rockets fix on my new PC and found this place... been here ever since. Didn't post much in my early days, but I caught on.
Believe it or not ...this was the very first site I ever visited on the web. I bought my first computer in 96...So I sign up for one of those aol free trials..They were only like 5 hours free back then,I immediately hated everything about aol....Well anyway,I wasn't really sure what the hell I was gonna do with this strange new toy..I get to the search engine and the first thing that came to mind was "gee wonder if there is anything about the Rockets on this interwebby thingie" ...rest is history.
it was during the save the rockets deal, and rich or charlie from the 610 afternoon drivetime mentioned it. I visited it a couple of times, and then started reading the forums. Then one day, I had nothing to do because the semester hasnt started, so I decided to register. The freaking End.
Someone mentioned it on the ESPN team message boards. I'm somewhat new to Houston, so I haven't been a fan for very long. In fact, I used to hate the rockets, back when I was a Phoenix fan.... I still get crap for it from my old friends =)
I'm not sure what brought me here, but it was about a week or two before the pippen signing if I remember correctly. Then all hell broke loose.
Man I think it was late 1996. I was bored in the university computer cluster, and was looking around on Yahoo. The URL wasn't even clutchcity.com back then (IIRC), let alone the modern .net today. I must admit, I'm go through phases of using the BBS, 'cos with the time difference, sometimes it's hard to participate in good threads.
Fall '99. Guy who lived on the floor below me was also a Rockets fan and happened to be looking at Clutchcity stats one day when I walked in. Since then, my productivity has just plummeted.
In 99 I was searching for Rockets wallpaper and cc.net showed up. So I just started looking around, and I knew I had found the best site on the internet. I lurked for 2 years before actully signing up as The Summit.
