I thought it was ok. But I was expecting more. As in alot more ACTION... I thought they spent alot of time developing the plot (i.e. the humans vs the mutants). I was also disappointed in the opening scene of the movie. Most opening scenes in an action movie you can count on being pulse pounding. So what was all that about 1944 Poland. So the kid in that scene was supposed to turn into Magneto??? I don't know. All I can say is that I was expecting a whole lot more action. Oh well. Maybe in the sequal. I am fairly certain that X-Men is going to turn into a series just like Batman. I would also be curious as to who is your favorite X-Man. Mine without question is Wolverine. On my rating scale it was 2 out of 4 stars. ------------------ President of the Austin Croshere fan club.
I loved it. Hugh Jackman is great as Wolverine. Him and James Mardsen (Cyclops) have tremendous chemistry. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
It was awesome... and yes, I thought it did really well to whet the appetite. I'm certain this will be one of the most often sequelled themes of all time. I grew up a wolverine fan, so I may have been biased... but did you guys get the idea that his character is being groomed as the star/focus for tons of spinoffs? (Inner Fury, Sabretooth vs. Wolverine, etc.?) ------------------ The ClutchCity 500.
I thought Jon Luc Picard made a good Xavier, and Magneto's character was well acted. I did think that Cyclops was poorly acted. At first I thought that Wolverine was not casted well, but he grew on me. Overall, I thought the movie was good, but not worth all the hype. Heck, I almost forgot Halle Barry as Storm. She didn't take away from the movie, but she did little to add to it as well. She was nice to look at, but she didn't get very much screen time. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
I thought the movie was excellent. The best thing about it was that they did take time to develop the plot and storyline. I thought the humor was good and the action was great. Wolverine was kick ass and so was that blue chic. She was scary and hot at the same time! I thought it was a great movie with alot of twists in it. One thing I did not like was Rogue. She is my favorite X-Woman, but she is much older in the cartoons. How can I have a crush on a 15 year old? That just killed it for me. Overall, the movie was great. Better than I expected. Much better than that Matrix thing I saw last year. ------------------ I Want To Thank God For Making Me A Rocketfan
The movie in a nutshell was awesome. Wolverine was perfect. The others will be developed in the later movies. The one thing that I am happy about is that with X-Men doing so well at the box office, they will be giving the green light on the upcoming super hero flicks such as: Spiderman(not like those stupid 70's movies) Fantastic Four(all I can say is WOW) Daredevil Hulk( no more green Lou Ferrigno, all computer graphics for the hulk this time) To name a few. I have always been a big comic book hound and to see my childhood heroes coming to life on the big screen is nothing short of incredible! ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
The movie was great and I look foward to more installments! At one point it showed Dr. X in the wheelchair and one smart-ass in the theature yelled out 'Timmah' (south park) If i could be anyone, it definatly would be Wolverine ------------------
Those are strong words Almu. I thought the Matrix was outstanding! It did win 4 Academy awards after all. Let's see how many Oscars X-men wins. BTW, Matrix 2 and 3 are being filmed simultaneously. Matrix 2 is scheduled for release at Christmas. ------------------
Why was Rebecca Romijn Stamos like naked with paint all over herself? ------------------ Will Work for Clutch 101 Book
Isn't everyone's favorite X-Man Wolverine? And since it is my nature to be contrary, my favorite has always been Nightcrawler. Is he in the movie? As for the action, I'm glad to hear that some were disappointed there wasn't more. X-Men always seemed to focus less on action than other comic book series. Maybe I will watch it after all. ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
The movie did not follow the comic book story line completely. Wolverine's adamantium metal(same stuff that Captain America's shield is made of) is supposed to be the non-ferrious type, in other words Magneto's powers do not effect Wolverine. Magneto also is supposed to have some control over energy, and limited mental abilities as well. Rogue had not encountered Ms Marvel yet so her super strength and flight ability were not present( she got them from Ms Marvel and they stayed with Rogue permantly). Mystyque has the ability to look and sound like someone but cannot mimic their special abilities, IE wolverine's claws. All and all a great flick and Wolverine is very true to form. I look forward to the next installment. Sabertooth and Wolverine did have a history but that was not apparent in the movie. Matrix was good in its own right but I do not gauge a movie by how many Oscars its gets since the Academy would not know a good movie if one came up and bit it. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
Behad, Oscars don't mean anything anymore. I mean, how many Oscars did American Beauty win? I thought that movie SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED big time! And how many Oscars did Hurricane win? None! And that was a hell of a movie. Matrix was ok. But I just cant take Reeves looking at the damn camera over and over with that blank look of his asking "Am I the one?". Makes me puke. Also, I think this movie has great timing in life today. With all the gene splicing and future developement of gene manupulation that could lead to extended age(Professor X) and enhanced health(the X-men), this is is not a far fetched idea. We will all be dead by then, but my kids, kids, kids, kids, kids, kids could do these things one day. Lord, the girl is still 18! She is like 24 or something in the comics. I am 29 and there is no way I would like a girl 18 years old. What are we going to talk about? Pokeman? Maybe an 18 year old would be good for me when I am 50. ------------------ I Want To Thank God For Making Me A Rocketfan
ROFLMAO!!! BWAHAHAAAAA!! That made my day! LOL!! ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!"
On the Rogue thing --- My sister, who keeps up with this much more than I would, explained that it has to do with being the beginning of the X-Men, when she was a wondering teenager. The X-men episodes tend to be placed ahead a few years, when she gets the other powers, and becomes more of a hottie. Cyclops is supposed to be a leader / thinker type, and doesn't do much flashy. He's supposed to be reserved, and have a rivalry with Wolverine. I was a little dissapointed in the variety of mutants -- I expected a few more -- and how much they actually used the abilities. They've set it up for a long line of sequals. ------------------ Stay Cool...
Rocketpimp: Make that two of us ROTFLMAO... I agree with Almu that they should have made her character a bit older. I mean it was weird seeing Rogue looking all baby eyed for Wolverine. What was she doing in Wolverines bedroom that night anyway... Hmmm... :O I thought it was a bit too weird. I guess Wolverine was looking after her like a older brother would for a younger sister. Professor X was perfectly cast. To answer your question BrianKagy. Not sure of the name of Ray Parks character. He was this wall crawler with a very, very, very long tongue. I thought he looked like a freak. I also agree with you guys who said that Storm was just there. I mean Hale Barre did not do much in the way of acting. Sabretooth really was into hearing her scream. By the way. X-Men just raked in 57 million this weekend (the most any movie has opened with in July). It broke the record previously held by Will Smith in Men in Black. Can't wait for future installments of X-Men. Most of the cast have already signed up for future installments. ------------------ President of the Austin Croshere fan club. Ray Parks character was called Toad. He had a prehenstile tongue that allows him to grab and hold things like the tail of a possum or to a certain extent , of a monkey. It was very sticky as well. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
He also hopped around a lot, and spit in one of the lady's face this sticky, snot like stuff. What a power! Which character was played by the actor that was in Star Wars (Darth Maul?) ------------------ Stay Cool...
Umm.... Anna Paquin is 18. And although her character was different from the original Rogue, I thought her portrayal was more realistic. If you can't have ANY physical contact with anyone, then you'd probably be quiet and detached, too. Besides, Paquin is hot. ^_^ Lord Tree ------------------
