    ....Nothing?....Build a bunker?....Keep a rotation of 30 - 5 gallon gas tanks on hand in annual rotation?....Buy a generator?....Get a combat shotgun?....Keep more water stockpiled?....buy propane bottles and a coleman stove....Get out?....

I like to think I am into being prepared, but the truth is had I decided to "shelter in place", the mode of knowing what to do first, second, third, etc...may not be so easy....

I cannot say I did anything wrong but the long delay we are facing in getting power back in the coming days will hurt even the best prepared.

I don't think you could have over prepared...unless you were my wife. She went and bought batteries, canned food, water, etc., etc.

    We live in Austin.

My brother has a generator and a 50 gallon tank, I think he has a few days of running on it...like 6 or so...I believe.

That being said, it is only good for lights, refrigerator and fans etc...but not powerful enough to run the AC.....

If he runs it full time 50 gallons won't last very long. The cheaper ones drink 5 gallons or so every 5 hours when used at full capacity.

A generator that runs on a battery and can be recharged with your car battery. Yeah, that one.
