While cramming for my tests, it occured to me that I didn't decide on anything to give up for Lent yet. After some deep thinking, I've decided to give up meat. It is going to be tough, but I think I need to try this out because I love meat, way too much and giving it up for 40 days will be quite a sacrifice as well as healthy and helpful towards losing a couple of extra pounds. No PETA jokes please. Anyways, what did everybody else, and by everybody I mean my fellow Catholics and not the heretics j/k, give up for Lent?
I don't celebrate Lent. But I'd like to try and give up sugar for the next 40 days. I've done nothing but eat cookies, cake, and indian sweets since I've been at my parents house. The temptations in this place are freakin' ridiculous. I've had absolutely no self-control the past few days, it's pretty sad.
I do not observe Lent { I am Pentacostal} although my girlfriend does {she is catholic} and she is giving up chocolate. May not sound like much, but the girl is a chocaholic
I'm giving up not training for the MS150 which I am racing in a month and for which I have prepared by training ONE DAY.
i'm presbyterian...my wife and i are giving up all sweets. we did enjoy a final delicious dessert at pappadeaux's last night! and that freaking crawfish bisque i kept talking about yesterday!
Last year I gave up all alchohol and anything else um "mood enhancing" I made it but I don't think I will do that this year. If you want to lose weight, one year I gave up consuming anything except water from 5AM till 5PM and I think I lost 10 to 15 pounds. Did you know that 40 days technically ends on Palm Sunday so an old Catholic Tradition was that you could take part in what you gave up on Sunday's during Lent because subtracting those Sunday's carries the 40 day time period till Easter.
Speaking of losing weight, the best thing that's worked for me is eating a healthy breakfast. It's amazing how well that works.
