It is still very early (7 games), but here are the stats for Yao and TMAC.

    Yao:

    24.0pts(9)
    10.4reb(14)
    2.7block(5)
    28.7EFF(4)
    3.1asst (2 among Centers)
    4.0TO(6 :D )
    0.553fg%
    0.894ft%(1 among centers)
    38.1mpg

    TMAC:
    27.3pts(3)
    5.9reb(6 among guards)
    23.9EFF(16)
    5.7asst(22)
    1.0stl
    0.451fg%
    0.796ft%
    0.3333pt%
    38.1mpg

--notice the minutes played for both players.

I think if the rockets have the best record and Yao can get to 26-28 ppg and 11+rpg, he has a good shot at MVP.

For TMAC he needs to get to 30+ ppg to have a good shot if the rockets have the best record.

Of course if Boston has a super record (60+ wins) and KG continue to put up crazy number, he is the most likely choice for MVP, but I don't think Boston can stay that hot.

if we don't win the division, it will be 0%.

Garnett is playing like he's got an MVP trophy stuck up his ass.

Can KG stay like this when he has to face much tougher competitions from the west?

b/c he's from the east will be irrelevant to the voters i think. 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists, 1.5 blocks (all rounded off) a game is a serious statline no matter where you play.

How do 2 people win the MVP in the same year? Is it based on the votes...didn't Stockton and Malone do it once?

Ya it is based on votes, so it is possible. I don't think it has has occurred before.

at the all-star game in their homecourt, very PR selection on that one.

The Rockets would have to win 65+ games for either T-Mac or Yao to have a shot of topping KG in the MVP balloting.

The other problem is that they'll take votes away from each other. Look at last night's game against the Bobcats. Who was the MVP? Yao scored 34 and missed only 2 shots the entire night, but T-Mac also closed the game with 12 points in the 4th quarter and made a key defensive play against Wallace.

KG's numbers are ridiculous, and they'll have the best record in the east

    he wins hands down

zero. both are too good at the same time and both will steal votes from one another.

that's why shaq only won on. the year that shaq won, kobe only avg 22, 5, 5 while shaq avg 29, 12. so shaq was the clear-cut guy statistically so he won.

That's the real problem. MVP candidates on the same team have each other to keep the defense occupied. Therefore they probably wouldn't have as good a year without the other. That's the thinking of the voters.

dude, he put up those same #s in the west. he's just that good. the best overall player in the game if he wants to be.

KG is the #1 choice to win it. if he puts up 23, 13, 6 like he has => 100% chance he'll win. plus he'll have the best record in the east WITH EASE

I think Yao and KG will get player of the week honors. Less than a MVP but still good
