that we trade McGrady to a team looking to cut salary, then that team buys him out at a discount, and we sign him back for the last half of the season for a portion of the MLE?

    Can it be done?

Since he is injured, and it seems like he won't be playing to start the season....could we work out a pre-arranged handshake agreement with him to bring him back after he is bought out towards the end of the season....provided he is healthy.

LET IT GO. it's a wrap on both sides. if he's cut, i'm sure ANOTHER contender is willing to pick us up and he'll probably go to that team before ours.

let it go. the tracy era is done.

We give up his bird rights but I don't think that's possible...maybe I'm wrong.

Why would we want him back?

i would LOVE for tracy to stay, but for the betterment of the team, it's time for him to go.

hell, i love for yao to go too. injuries will prevent us from winning a championship.

That's Dirty Pool and I hope we never do it. I absolutely hate it when other teams do it and think there should be a rule prohibiting a player from re-signing with his current team for at least two years.

The Mavs have done it, the Spurs have done it and it stinks to high Heaven,

It can be done but I dont think we can find a team willing to that. Wherever TMac is going, that team is in need of revenue and I still believe Tmac can draw the crowds to watch him so letting him go back to us would be a stupid move for that team but then again there are a lot of stupid GMs in this league. We are spoiled with ours. GO MOREY!

Nah, I don't see that happening. Much like his breakup with Orlando, things probably only get uglier from this point forward (no pun intended). Plus, let's not forget that he's playing for a contract. Whatever our team looks like mid-season at this hypothetical point that we sign him will likely already be established and good enough without him. Trying to install him, his style and expected role mid-season would only complicate things and likely lead to clashing.

My question is, are we GOING to trade McGrady?

It seems like Morey doesn't want to trade McGrady because TONIGHT, he had a great chance to trade him EASILY.

The Nets would have easily took a McGrady and Carter swap.

    There focusing on 2010.

you don't know that for sure, the players NJ got are all at least healthy, tmac isnt. Lee actually has a shot at staying with them long term, tmac would just leave and leave them only with cap relief, but they wanted relief AND a young prospect. If they really wanted tmc they would have made an offer, and apparently the rumor from last season about NJ/hou swapping them was just that, a rumor, no deal was ever offered on either side, and if it was, then they had their chance and didnt take it.

the 2 best deals we could have gotten for tracy is amare or vince (b/c they are star players).

i think morey may have his standards too high on what tracy and his contract can get.

technically yes, the Spurs had done this for seasons,, but why would TMac want to return? He's sensitive, right?

ESPN.com lists TMac as a trade option. He is being actively shopped. Landry is also probably being actively shopped. If the Rockets saw a chance for a good trade involving TMac which improved the team overall, they would have taken it.

Frankly, TMac has no choice but to be loyal. Yes, he's being shopped, but it's his return from injury. He needs to prove his worth so his future is somewhat assured for the 2010-2011 season.

IMO Rockets would've taken Carter for T-Mac in a heart beat but according to Ric Bucher all they're being offered for T-Mac is junk from the Knicks.
