Just throwing the idea out there. They're definitely not going back to NY next year. I think we'd welcome them with open arms, regardless of what we said about them bolting back to NY or what we've said in the past.

Pettite will stay a Yankee. Clemens will retire (again - for good this time, I think). I highly doubt Pettite will come back to the 'Stros after what he perceived as them not taking care of him last year... then again, maybe Clemens won't retire...

I'll happily take them back for the right price. I don't expect Clemens to command so much this time around. I'd expect a similar deal the first time he signed here. There's no way he's going out like this. And his kid has a strong chance of getting called up in September.

Pettitte, I don't see him picking up his option. Torre's gone, Uncle George is likely to overhaul.

I wasn't mad at Pettitte for bolting, and I wasn't even mad at Clemens either. They both shared great memories in New York. But it's time to bring that winning culture back into our clubhouse on a very different team and this time win it all baby!

Pettitte has a $16 million player option. I can't imagine him turning that down - no way he gets near that on the open market next year.

I dont think they would return, I think Roger Clemens should retire, and Pettite is going to stay with the Yankees.

They can stay in NY where they are "more appreciated."

There's a better chance of both retiring than there is of both returning here.

Good choice. Both of them can only pitch about 5 1/2 innings, 7 tops on a good day. BUT they both need at least 6 runs to get a W.

But I agree with a previous poster, Andy will accept his player option of 16 million. I am sure "God" will tell him to play next year in NY!

Pettitte might get $8-10MM on the open market. He's got a $16MM player option. This one is pretty easy for me to figure out.

...by his mom? by his girlfriend?... by the Pittsburgh Pirates, who seem a lot more likely than the Astros to call up a third baseman whose entire career consists of average-at-best hitting in A-ball?

I will take a pass. In any event, there is no way Pettitte turns down his option.

Maybe we should be asking God where he wants Andy to be next year.

I'm not really interested, either, but it's not really out of animosity. This team needs to rebuild. You can't do that by investing multi-millions in 38-year-olds (or forty-ninety-nine-whatever-year-olds, in Clemens's case).
