We all got styles of posting that we go back to time and again. I'm sure you've got jokes that you always pop out at specific instances, or phrases that you happen to use all the time. Recently I've taken to typing the following whenever I respond to a post that's especially shocking or funny: I also like to go back and edit posts that people have responded to for comedic effect. Like if someone says that something I posted in the Hangout is a little too D & D-ish, then I might go back and edit it in an overt fashion to make it more Hangout appropriate. I did that in a thread a little while back (it was a thread about a poster's friend that got arrested for underaged buying of beer), but I can't find it anymore. And one of my staple jokes is to end a message with something along the lines of, "Now if you'll excuse me I have some ___________ that I have to do." where the blank is filled in with a referance to what the thread is about. So what about you? Are you a relentless Seinfeld quoter? A rabid picture poster? Or do you like to make a crude referance coming out of nowhere that breaks the tone of a serious message?
that's a good questions the thing is though sometimes we don't notice our own idiosyncracies because if we did we might stop them. what are my trademarks?
Writing posts that are too long. Sometimes (but not always) being serious when everyone else is trying to make it into a joke thread. Telling people the stuff they probably don't want to hear (scientific explanations of the metabolic pathways, or reminding guys, when they criticize a woman's looks, that I do assume they're in top physical shape themselves).
My trademark is either making a sarcastic remark, p*ss someone off, or to post a picture to denote someone WHINING, or a simply STUPID thread. edit: STUPID picture-posting privilege... - Homer
looking at how I post, I would say that the main thing that I do in every post is the use of ...... to fill in what would be pauses in my speech. Dont know why I do it....I just always have. the only other thing is(or used to be) my tendency to stick with smartass remarks. I got into that habit in GARM when responding to stupid posts. In Hangout.....I've gotten to the point that I rarely respond to much unless it is a help wanted thread(normally about computers).....and sometimes I go to D&D and make an ass out of myself
I sign my name at the end of each post. I rarely use smileys. I used to post pics, but now that they only show up as links, I don't post 'em any more. -- droxford
You sure have your trademark, RR 80% of the time u would add something else after u signed out for your posts, just like a certified dead person opening his mouth again and saying few more words before he's finally gone. Dragon u know what I mean?............. justing kidding
Well you never miss a chance to chime in on the Babe of the Day threads, although that might due to the fact that you have a Y chromosome and don't happen to be gay. And IIRC you were the one that slid in the word "stochastic" into a thread. But that was probably an anomaly because you don't usually drop scien-teric* terminology on our craniums. You're also probably the most lenient movie grader on this board, although that can hardly be called a trademark. I don't know. There's got to be some stuff that you notice always doing. * Oh yeah, another one of my trademarks is the fact that I like to make up words by combining stuff together.
I find myself typing a lot of times, "i.e." or "e.g." and then some phrase to go with it. One time, I think it was rimbaud or Achebe or maybe even Behad, commented on how they were about to "pull a Manny" by using that format to cite an example of something.
