I was looking at the clutch website, and seen footage of this guy's dunks on the youtube link; and this dude has mad hops. i think Azubuike would prolly be a great fit with this team, since him and chuck hayes were teammates in college. that brings some type of chemistry right there with the team. i also heard that Kelenna Azubuike was a beast in college. did'nt he lead his kentucky team in scoring when he played for them? i just hope this player turns out to be a good role player for the rockets. he could prolly be a back up 2 or 3 off the bench for us. what are your thoughts of this rockets signing???

If this guy can hit wide open shots then his chances might be decent. If his 3pt % is < 40%, unlikely.

They signed him to an unguarenteed contract which means they want him to practice with the team during camp. He is practice fodder. If he plays really well in camp, then he MIGHT get the 1 remaining roster spot which means he'll start the season on the IR.

    Don't get your hopes up.

At Kentucky, didn't Tubby Smith say he looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?

chances are little, unless he can prove he is a rough diamond

He'll be in camp & have his chance. It'll totally be up to his performance in camp whether or not he sticks. Personally, I'm rooting like hell for him; but pardon me if I don't hold my breath.

i would say 100% chance. and probably at least a 135% chance that he is an all-star.

chances are he wont, but you never know.

He was said to have lottery pick athleticism but he just didnt use it. Who knows there, maybe he will come into his own with some age and maturity.

Doubtful. At guard, we've already have Alston, Sura, KillBill, Lucas, Head, and Snyder -- not counting McGrady. That's already 6 guys to cover two positions. A seventh would be too much. And, of these guards, only Alston and Sura are veteran, so if we were to add a seventh guard, I doubt we want yet another inexperienced player. Also, with 14 guys right now, we've only got one slot left. We've got only 5 guys who can play power forward or center. That last slot needs to go to a big guy.

Which means the all-star west starting line-up would be Sasha Vujajic, Azubuike, Ndubi Ebi, Johan Petro, and Pavel Podkolzin.

Chances are Azubuike doesn't make it to November. Maybe avg 5min/game in the preason during garbage time blowouts.

Unless he has magically gained ability to dribble or shoots an unreal percentage, his chances are almost nil. From what I saw of him in college, he was a SF who couldn't make it at SG. That doesn't work at 6'5" in the NBA.

His odds are less than 50%, but not that much less. A lot about whether he makes the roster depends on things he has no control over, like whether Snyder is going to be a reliable teammate, VSpan can delivery NBA quality play right away, or whether Sura comes back.

Actually I think 35%+ on 3s and 45% overall would get him in the game.

He shot 58% in the summer league (3 of 8 on 3s).

He shot 51% in the NDBL last year. (31% from 3)

No question he would have to develop a lot more skills. Clearly he has already progressed a lot since UK (see NDBL/Summer league performances), whether enough to make the NBA is another story. Lots of big guards/swingmen (Elie, B Bowen) have taken a while to develop into NBA players. Also, Corey Maggette was pretty much just all athlete coming out, no refined skills, hopefully this guy will be a Maggette light.

A long shot, but promising for a long shot. I am glad we have him in the mix because if we can get a reliable big, strong and athletic guard out of him or Snyder we can provide our most formidable line-up (Battier & Tmac at the forward spots with a big guard to further compliment them with rebounds and rotations).

I saw Azabuike plenty in SEC play over his three years at Kentucky and the kid has some serious athleticism, a great shot when he gets hot, and can defend. But he doesn't have a great handle, often gets caught off balance laterally, and has a pretty streaky shot. I personally don't see him sticking, but the upside is there to be a rotational player one day.

I saw a janitor dunking at Fonde the other day, do you think this guy has a shot at making the team?

Seriously is a NBDL player because he has no jump shot?.....come to think of it he fits right in to the nba without one.

I would have said not much chance, but then again I wouldn't have thought that we would have kept Ryan Bowen this long.

i think they sad if he had stayed an extra season at kentucky, he would have gone in the 1st round for sure. we all know he entered the draft early for his dad, etc. point being, if he really wants to be on the team, he'll perform well and find a spot. even as much as i would like for him to make this team, i really want to ship of Jho for a first rounder next year. i think thats fair don't you?
