A lot of trade ideas are being thrown around, mainly centering on the obvious: Melo and Iggy. I would imagine that Iggy is far more attainable than Melo, and might even be a better fit, but if that can't happen, what about working with Detroit? Center a package around Yao and Battier for Prince and Ben Wallace. It provides cap space in the near future for Detroit or pieces they can move later and gives them some "star power" in Yao for the duration of the year. From Houston's perspective, we get Prince to take over at SF for Battier and still provide at least the same level of defense that Battier has exhibited thus far along with an occasional 20 point out break. Likewise, Wallace can provide solid defense in the paint, and allow Hill more PT as well. These guys would only need 20-25 minutes a game, allowing C-Bud and Hill/P-Pat to get more PT and bring a defensive toughness as well as playoff experience (despite the fact that it's not recent). I believe Prince's contract is expiring as well. Of course it would take more players/picks to make it work, but I think it'd be worth at least exploring. As many of us are wondering, this whole 24 minutes of Yao may be causing on-court chemistry issues and he's no lock to be brought back next year or stay healthy the rest of this year anyway. PG - Brooks SG - Martin SF - Prince PF - Scola C - Wallace Bring Lowry, Lee, Bud, Hill and P-Pat off the bench.
You still think Ben Wallace is the same defensive force he was 3-4 years ago? Have you not watched any Pistons games? He is a shell of his former self.
