I posed this question before and it didn't get much run: What about trading for Wally Z? The T-Wolves have got to be draft pick starved, right? And we know they need frontcourt defensive help for K.G. With this draft being heavy for big men, I think he could be had. I would imagine the only untouchables for them are K.G. and T. Brandon.

I think we could get him for the 13 + 23 (and maybe Walt). He averaged 14 pts. 5+ boards and 3+ assists per game with the T-Wolves, and he's only a few years older than Mike Miller.

If we can't have Miller, then gee Beav', what about Wally?? [IMG]

if the wolves were to trade wally szczerb or however you spell it, they would trade him for a big-man. on the other hand the 13th and 18th might cover that issue.

i think we should go for Wally and the T-Wolves are desperate for picks and the 13 and 18 for sure would get him

Errr... why would the Wolves trade a successful former #7 pick for a #13 and #23? That deal is crazy from their perspective.

My guess is that you could have Wally for:

    1. A top 3 pick
    2. A decent big man + a pick
    3. Three decent first rounders

It's not like there's a sliding scale that means the #13 will be so good, and the #18 will be that much lesser. Drafting is dicey, and the Wolves did well with Wally. Why take a chance unless the pot is very sweet?

Haven, can I trade with you? Don't I have anything that you want?

You are proposing that Wally is worth approximately 5 first round picks (assuming a decent big man was once a Round 1 pick) plus another pick.

    Yikes!

Again, don't I have anything you want to acquire from me?

    rich, i think haven meant 1, 2 OR 3 not 1, 2 AND 3.

    purvis, i've got standards buddy!

how about Jason Collier + Kenny Thomas + #13 + #18 for Wally? then use #23 on Jason Collins

I'd have to say no to Wally Z.Sorry Outlaw.Yes,he can bust from outside and put it on the floor, but he doesn't play a lick of defense.Watching him in college and during March Madness,I was sure he would be a star in the NBA.Now,I see him as a very good player who yes,can help the right team win,but doesn't fit our needs. We need a long 3 who has DEFENSE attached to his resume.Even if he was targeted, the price would probably be too high for me.

Wally is young and can still learn to play better D. Steve has been accused of being lax on that end of the floor also. Both of them are athletic enough and competitive enough to improve in that department.

He still has the time/potential to develop into an all-star.

Good! Let me introduce you to the conjunction "or."

    SamCassell -

Yes, I am still a virtual rookie at cc.net. But, just for perspective, some of my best friends are "outlaws"... [IMG]

I think because of the Wolves situation, they may be more amenable to trades than most of you think. The only way for them to get well quickly would be to trade either Brandon or KG, and you don't trade a franchise player away, that's why picks plus players for Wally makes sense. He is not, and probably never will be a franchise player, but is and will always be an excellent role player.

Finally, if we go and get the defensive 5 that we are missing, then we could afford to go with a more offensive minded 3.

I don't understand the obssesion with Wally... All my friends seem to ride his jock...

At best, he is a decent #3 scorer or so... Not the type of player who will take a team to the next level...

His offensive game is very limited... He can finish well, but that happens once a game at the most... And he doesn't seem to be able to do anything else but shoot open jumpers off of baseline screens...

His defense is pretty poor... I give him credit for his effort, but he just doesn't have the lateral movement to guard SF's...

I don't think he has the potential to be anything more than a 15 ppg scorer...

In other words, I would rather risk taking a draft pick who would have much more potential than Wally...

well are we looking for a consistent #3 scorer behind Steve/Cat or are we looking for a new #1 scorer? (which I honestly don't see any of these draft picks being a #1 option for any team).
